Quinnipiac: Hillary bounces back in Pennsylvania...
Edited on Thu Mar-29-07 09:02 PM by SaveElmer
Widening her lead over Obama and closing the gap on Guiliani...and doing better than either Obama or Edwards head to head against Guiliani...

New York Sen. Hillary Clinton has widened her lead over Illinois Sen. Barack Obama among Pennsylvania Democrats and narrowed the gap with former New York City Mayor Rudolph Giuliani in the 2008 presidential race, according to a Quinnipiac University poll released today.

Sen. Clinton gets 36 percent of Democratic primary voters, with 17 percent for Sen. Obama, 13 percent for former Vice President Al Gore, 9 percent for John Edwards and 4 percent for Delaware Sen. Joseph Biden. This compares to a 29 - 1 8 percent Clinton lead over Obama in a March 7 independent Quinnipiac (KWIN uh-pe-ack) University poll.

In general election matchups, former New York City Mayor Rudolph Giuliani still tops all Democrats, 46 - 42 percent over Clinton, 46 - 39 percent over Obama and 48 - 39 percent over Edwards. Giuliani led Clinton 51 - 40 percent March 7.

Although she still trails former Mayor Rudy Giuliani in Pennsylvania, Sen. Hillary Clinton seems to have strengthened her position somewhat, now leading Sen. John McCain by a point and maintaining a more than 2 - 1 lead over Sen. Barack Obama in a Democratic primary," said Clay F. Richards, assistant director of the Quinnipiac University Polling Institute.

2. Thanks for posting.
But you know the usual suspects will show up & say the polls don't matter right now, unless of course they happen to find one that is not flattering to Mrs. Clinton.

3. The questions asked in the poll are dead on..
Hillary is clearly becoming the favorite. Her hard work and determination are starting to pay off.

5. I've noticed this, too
Everyone keeps saying "the polls don't matter, the polls don't matter," but then when Hillary isn't doing well in a poll, they all chime in and say, "proof that no one likes Hillary - she's going to lose!"

19. Please show me where I have been innnaccurate...
In my criticisms of Kucinich!

It really is amazing how thin skinned Kucinich supporters are...I guess they are just not used to anyone saying anything other than hallelujah to anything Saint DK says I guess...

8. All these polls are being asked under "non-campaign" situations...
Edited on Thu Mar-29-07 10:00 PM by Gloria
Let's see what happens when FOX, other media, Swift Boaters, etc. start revving up. There are other polls out now showing that 21% of Democrats don't want Hillary. Count me one of them. Her husband's attitude toward the "lefty internet blogs" is indicative of how out of touch--probably deliberately--her crowd is. I may have to sit this one out, the first time ever. If it's DLC vs. GOP, what's the choice?? Unsavory, that's for sure, and a step backwards for progressives.

11. She'll go 0 for 4 in those states.
Face it. When my own mother who's a loyal Democrat says she'll sit out next year's election if she's the Democratic nominee despite me throwing everything but the kitchen sink about another Republican in the White House, then you know things are bad.

12. In polls within the last month...
She has led in 3 of those 4 states...against both McCain and Guiliani...

I don't know your mother...but I know many people here who are quite excited about Hillary running for President...including many independents I know, and one Republican (which surprised me)...

15. I don't see her winning any of those states.
Plus, it's not my mother. I've spoken to others here in this so-called Blue State and they have said point blank if she's the nominee, they're voting Republican. That's pretty sad.

16. Ahhh..the tried and true "No one I know is voting for her"
Argument...very compelling...

In fact, I live in a Red State and see significant support for her here...

13. She has more money and more name recognition that Obama and Edwards
and this is the best she can do? Trailing Giuliani in a blue state? A lot can happen in the next few months, but if this is the kind of "good news" that Hillary Clinton continues to get, and Democrats make the mistake of nominating her, we are screwed.

This is a better result for her than the last poll...and makes her the most competitive Democrat in Pennsylvania currently...
