have you heard of unity08?
This is a new political party trying to get away from the money that seems to buy most candidates. I think that it is an interesting idea, but worry that it will take votes away from someone that would be good for us.

Check it out at www.Unity08.com. The actor, Sam Waterston is the spokesperson for this group.

1. I oppose their effort. This is a year when the Democratic Party has
way too talented a line-up to fool around with alternative parties.

3. I support the creation
of a multiparty democracy in this country. I would love it if we had IRV voting and 4-5 parties to choose from.

4. They want to have a ticket with one Dem and one Pug
I for one would never vote for any ticket that had any Repug on it ever again. I don't know that I will always vote Dem, but anything with a repug is an absolute no.

6. They're Republican enablers

Who legitimize far right policies by touting "centricism" and "unity."

Think "triangulation." It's just another means for the corporatists to maintain their control.

5. Yes I have and I'm not interested.
While Sam Waterson may be the spokesperson for this group, Phyllis Schafley and Brody are into this idea, too, and I oppose it.

7. They are a way to keep the conservatives in power.
You know all that let's be bipartisan stuff? They GOP loses and suddenly they want to be nice??

It is very centrist Dems like Lanny Davis and mostly Republicans.

I am highly suspect of this group.

This website is keeping track of the group.

Here's a quote from Unity 08.

"Unity08 intends to fix this broken system by electing a bipartisan “Unity Ticket” to the White House in ‘08 funded solely by small-dollar donations from everyday Americans. As a result the Unity08 President and Vice President will enter office not with favors owed to lobbyists and special interests but with a clear mandate from the American people to cooperate and provide courageous leadership on the most crucial, complex issues facing our country.

“Small-dollar donations” from “everyday Americans” and “people like you”? Let’s look at the actual donations and find out."

Check out some of the donors.

8. I oppose it then
I thought perhaps it was a legitimate third party like the Greens or Libertarians.

9. We need one populist president
and a very capable and credible VP. We have both in our pool of candidates.

No bargain necessary.

10. Marketing a unity ticket is silly.
Want unity Republicans? Vote Democrat.

Then we'll all be united against the Republican Crime Party
