The longest thread: your favorite comebacks to 'wingers
Reading about the signs (protesting a war-protester march) of people who are somehow still in favor of Bush's war policy made my blood boil:

The anti-war group carried signs saying “U.S. Out of Iraq Now,” “Stop Iraq War, No Iran War, Impeach” and “Illegal Combat.” The other side carried signs saying “Peace Through Strength,” “al-Qaida Appeasers On Parade” and “We Are At War, Liberals Root For the Enemy.”

Please post your favorite comebacks to rightwingers.

Here are a few of mine:

1. For people who like the Bush economy: Turned a record surplus into a record deficit.

2. For people who justify the war with "We were attacked!"

8/21/06:
REPORTER: What did Iraq have to do with that?

BUSH: What did Iraq have to do with what?

REPORTER: The attacks upon the World Trade Center.

BUSH: Nothing.

3. For people who think the Bush administration has made us safer:

a) After receiving numerous warnings of pending Al-Qaeda attacks, Cheney's anti-terrorism task force met zero times. That's not very many.

b) National Intelligence Estimate says Iraq War has made us less safe

What are your favorites???

3. I don't know if this is what you mean...
...it doesn't really cover anything specific just a general statement about repubs. I posted this in my local papers forum as part of a counter against a charge that Democrats and republicans are equally corrupt.

a personal failing is something we all have from time to time. Like you are an idiot. You don't have to be but you willingly make yourself ignorant of the facts. I, too, have personal failings. I just called you an idiot. A truly compassionate person would not have pointed out your deficiencies in front of others. I'm sorry I did it but I can't help myself. You see I used to be a republican and I just have never lost the mean vindictive streak that goes along with being a republican.

Maybe too general for what you were looking for.

4. A different approach, but nicely put

I think it could be fun, useful, and cathartic to hear everyone's favorite responses to all the lunacy we're being subjected to as our country gets flushed down the toilet by belligerent idiots who still think they're on the upswing as they curse out some straw-man delusion of a liberal menace.

5. OK, maybe this won't be the longest thread...
... but wouldn't you like to hear how everyone else tells off the wingnuts? I sure would -- please share some more!

6. I really don't know any wingnuts here.
If they come here they tend to keep quiet about politics.

7. True. I didn't mean to suggest that such debates generally take place here.
But a lot of us encounter wingers in our daily lives, and we're bombarded with GOP talking points elsewhere online, on the radio, etc.

I think the reason a lot of us run lefty blogs is to put forth responses to those bogus and pernicious memes that these guys are constantly spreading.

10. No, I meant where I live.
It's really, really liberal here. The cops are a problem, but I am not getting into a debate with them.

14. I live in "liberal" Massachusetts but...
...south of Boston, people tend to be conservative. And the a-holes on our local -- and incredibly popular -- AM sports radio station are insufferable. The fact that they've been wrong about absolutely everything doesn't seem to have tempered their swagger one iota.

15. And, yes, on our *sports* station...
... they filibuster about Cindy Sheehan, Bill Clinton, and the other America-hating, terrorist-loving Marxist devils that haunt their every waking moment.

11. Is your yellow ribbon buying them MORE BODY ARMOR??!??!?!
At least when Clinton was president, we had a surplus.

At least when Clinton was president, the rest of the world liked, respected, and trusted us. AND our president.

At least when Clinton was president, people regarded as each other's enemies were TALKING TO EACH OTHER. Now, all they want to do is shoot at each other.

The guys responsible for the FIRST World Trade Center terrorist attack were found, arrested, tried, AND CONVICTED.

I'd rather have a president who screwed an intern than a "president" who's screwed the whole country.

And if I see a parked car with a lot of "w04" or "bush/cheney" stickers on it or the nauseating "These Colors Don't Run" or "I support 'president' bush and our troops," and I'm in a position to do so, I leaflet that car with the following, which I found on the internet and to which I added a small paragraph. Feel free...

Dear friend and fellow American:

I know how much you support President Bush and the war effort in Iraq. But I noticed that you haven’t signed up to fight yet. It might be because you are too busy, or maybe you just didn’t know how easy it is to join! I know you probably feel guilty about sending other young men and women off to die in your place, so I am sure you’ll take this opportunity to do the right thing:

Sign up for a tour or two in Iraq today!

You will enable some poor soldier who’s stuck there, exhausted, scared, isolated, frustrated, thirsty, poorly supplied, insufficiently armored, under constant threat, lied to about why he’s there and when he’s going to be released, and yearning to come home – to do just that: come home!

What could possibly be more patriotic?

What better way could there be to prove your devotion to President Bush?

“…And I’d gladly stand up next to you and defend her still today.
‘Cause there ain’t no doubt I love this land. God bless the U.S.A.”

16. Nice letter!
A really sick thing is how they must respond to these points you make:

At least when Clinton was president, the rest of the world liked, respected, and trusted us. AND our president.

At least when Clinton was president, people regarded as each other's enemies were TALKING TO EACH OTHER. Now, all they want to do is shoot at each other.

The backwash voters actually consider these changes as accomplishments!

12. Why do you hate the Constitution? It was written by liberals.
The founding fathers were liberals, it is who we are. Other wise...you must be an authoritarian...so... monarchist, fascist, communist?

18. Have you ever noticed when they criticize places like Iraq...
... they say that they're trying to "liberalize" them, and give them a "liberal democracy"?

Funny how scary "liberal" is to them on the home-front.

13. Can you name one thing Bush has done right besides lining the pockets of his supporters?
I can't think of anything. They often like to point at the economy as a sign of success but, to me, the "bustling economy" just means that the rich continue to get richer as they ship more jobs over seas and cut benefits here at home.

Go to this web site to see the effects of the Bush tax cuts through 2010:

http://www.ctj.org/pdf/gwbdata.pdf

And go here to see how these tax cuts will affect “discretionary spending” on domestic programs:
