Did you know a soldier/amputee was barred from attending the Walter Reed
public hearing yesterday?:grr: :grr: Preselected?

Before yesterday's hearing, a patient with a prosthetic arm tried to get in but was stopped by a guard, who asked if the young man was supposed to be in the hearing. "I'd like to be," the soldier said.

"It's preselected, unfortunately," the guard replied. The young amputee walked away. Inside, three rows of seats had been reserved for the Army; almost all were empty.

2. Whose hearing was it? How could Waxman not have known about
the "preselection"? How could some other entity have control over a House Hearing? It made sense having the hearing at WR, but if Waxman gave up that much control in order to do it, it was a bad deal...

3. I am sure Waxman would want them their.
But interesting not letting them in will get a bigger press.

6. But that is my question. If Waxman did not set up the "preselection",
then who did and by what authority? It shouldn't make any difference where a House Hearing is held, the chairman should be the final authority on issues like this.

9. I think things just happen. They do not plan that well at all.

10. I think that this is one of our biggest problems, the lack of planning
and the failure to do the details. If this had been a "show" hearing by the Republics against a Democratic administration, they would have had this thing planned down to camera angles. They would have made sure that the gallery was filled with disgruntled GIs, but our congresspeople just fail to plan and fail to do the details. Our congress people seem to think everything is above board and honest. Somebody, somewhere, sometime has got to go for the jugular...

11. I think you are right on who plans. Just look how long it took them to
plan their way into power and just ride all over every one. I can recall back in the early 70's or late 60's some of these right wing church nuts saying they would run the govt. and would start with the local school boards and work their way up. I frankly thought it was silly as we were Am. and of course would never let religious zealots take over. For sure never laissez faire business. Plus who would think that the GOP would hook up with them and ride it right into WH. To be frank no one planned better than Lenin and look at bin larden. Yes one has to have plans just as our founders did but I hope we can keep inside our founders plans. They turn our better than these others. That was a half good plan for people to follow and a good piece of the world has liked it.

4. Thanks for the heads up
My congressman, Paul Hodes, is a member of the hearing. I just called his office and informed them of the article. The staffer said this was the first he had heard of it; he would check it out and talk with Hodes about it.

So may be this will be more than a hand wave.

7. Thank you, sarge43!
 I would love to know if Waxman and the panel were aware that soldiers were not allowed in.

8. I think Hodes has a bone in his teeth
He's a freshman Dem who was one of the winners thanks to the massacre of Repubs here in NH. So I think he's ready to listen.

Call his office 202-225-5206. Nothing to lose.

5. Unfortunately,
you can't communicate with Waxman unless you live in his district. If I'm wrong, please send me a link where I can email him.
