Democratic voters and the IWR...Hillary leading
Edited on Tue Feb-27-07 10:26 PM by SaveElmer
ABC/Washington Post poll

This poll would seem to put the lie to the belief that Hillary Clinton's vote on t he IWR will be the deciding factor in the race...

First the Horse Race:

Clinton: 43%
Obama: 27%
Edwards: 14%
Richardson: 3%
All others: 4%
Unsure / none: 9%

A complete shift in the numbers among African American voters, with Obama now edging Hillary 44-33. Last two polls had Hillary at 60%. This subset was very small (120 voters), so will need to see if this is a trend. Hillary's favorability rating among this group was still very high

Now the IWR...this is what is really interesting

The Post-ABC News poll found that 52 percent of Democrats said her vote was the right thing to do at the time, while 47 percent said it was a mistake. Of those who called it a mistake, however, just 31 percent said she should apologize. Among Democrats who called the war the most important issue in deciding their 2008 candidate preference, Clinton led Obama 40 to 26 percent.

So 52% of Democrats believe the IWR vote was the correct vote at the time...47% believe it was a mistake.

Of that 47% only 31% said Hillary should apologize

And of those for whom the war is the #1 issue, Hillary leads Obama 40-26

1. I am not a big person on polls
I have no doubt Hillary is leading. Many people I know support her. I haven't gotten behind anyone yet. I do disagree that Dems think the vote was right. There isn't a Democrat I know that thinks it was right...perhaps things are different in other areas. I am in Michigan.

2. yeah well, not all of us are sheep....
I won't be voting for anyone who supported the war crime against Iraq. Enjoy electing a war criminal if that's where your tastes lie.

4. Good analysis, Elmer
Hillary is still proving that she's the one to beat, despite the arrogant and untrue remarks made about her here 24/7. Look out, though, Obama is gonna sneak up on her! ;)

6. He is...
He is definitely the one to watch...

I think the nominee will come from among Hillary, Obama, and Richardson who will overtake Edwards by early next year...I think Hillary will end up getting it, but it will be a tough road...

Pretty historic if you think about it...there is a very good chance our nominee will either be a woman, an african american or a hispanic...

Pretty awesome!

7. I've noticed that...

...the 'friends of the DLC' are pushing Mrs. Clinton really hard...considering it's a long way to the next election cycle. I guess they've learned from the Bush Team to hit them early and hit them hard.

It's really sad watching Hillary try to become the 'frontrunner' by unnecessarily trashing other Dems...but this is the trend since the DLC slithered its way into the party. Worse...the DLCers don't mind acting and looking like GOPers on the campaign trail. Even worse...they vote like RWingers after getting elected.

The former party of the people will finally die off if a DLCer gets into the WH once again. A third party will HAVE to rise to take the place of the party that used to put people before corporations.
