Far Right Fench leader 9/11 attack an "incident'
Even the far Right in France gets it.

9/11 ATTACKS AN "INCIDENT"

"Paris - French far-right leader Jean-Marie Le Pen has dismissed the September 11, 2001 attacks as an "incident", saying the death toll of 3 000 was equal to the number of people killed in Iraq in a month.

Commenting on the death toll from the attacks, Le Pen said: "3 000 dead, that is how many die in Iraq in a month and it's far less than the deaths in the Marseille or Dresden bombings at the end of the Second World War."

But the enjoyment ofyhe company of his fellow Anti-Semites. His only objection to the war in Iraq is that he believes it is the result of Jews using Gentiles to their own ends....

At the close of the article you have cited here:

"The far-right leader was convicted of Holocaust denial after he declared in 1987 that the gas chambers used by Nazi Germany to exterminate Jews were a 'detail in the history of World War II'."

6. You don't need to be snide.
I read the whole article and yes I saw that part. I was only pointing out the first point of the article.

8. Snide, Ma'am?
The wretch is what he is, and his views what they are. He is not, and cannot be considered to be, by any stretch, an ally, or an informed and sensible commentator.

Difference of opinion.

I do want to point out, though, that using a far rightwing ideologue as some kind of authority shines a suspicious light on YOU. Just saying.

23. Why Would You Think That, Ma'am?
There are any number of wholly reactionary reasons for which a variety of rightist cretins oppose current administration policies. It does not make them corect, or friends and allies of the left.

Or are you just posting disjointed topics ("fighting liberals," date rape, French wingnuts, etc.) in an attempt to be provocative?

4. he "gets it"???
from your own sig line: "If you tremble indignation at every injustice then you are a comrade of mine. - Ernesto Che Guevara"

and then you suggest that minimizing the attacks of 9/11 on CIVILIANS as an "incident" is getting it? Guevara's words are wise; the OP is not.

11. And He Is Wrong In Saying It, Ma'am
Edited on Wed Feb-21-07 12:47 PM by The Magistrate
And says it only in the service of his Anti-Semitic world view, in which he understands the entire sequence of events as a duping of Gentiles by wicked Jews.

It is true that the invasion of Iraq was a profound mistake by the United States, and also terue that it bears no relatiom whatever to either the September attacks, or to the necessary fight against jihadist radicals. It was, in fact, contemplated by the present administration from its first days in office, and they only seized on the September attacks as a pretext of sorts for it.

12. are you trembling at the injustice of 9/11?
Edited on Wed Feb-21-07 12:47 PM by welshTerrier2
it sure didn't sound that way. it sounded like you were condoning the dismissal of even a single death of a civilian as an "incident".

i couldn't agree more the US overreacted. in fact, i'll go further and tell you that US imperialism brought the 9/11 killings down on us. killing civilians is never justified but we still need to understand that 9/11 was not carried out for no reason at all. there were very clear reasons and the US needs to examine its criminal international conduct. nevertheless, killing civilians is never justified.

we should not fail to decry the loss of innocent human life whether it is one citizen or thousands. the mere idea of comparing death counts is absurd. when someone close to you is killed, it is not an "incident".

Edited on Wed Feb-21-07 01:16 PM by welshTerrier2
not all who target the same enemies we might target are "worthy". aligning ourselves with them often does far more harm than good.

choose your enemies carefully and your allies even more carefully.

you were dead on target in this thread.

still, the OP is new here and i hope understands that we encourage her continued participation and look forward to her future contributions. this was a bit of baptism by fire and kind of a rough introduction to the warm and cheerful community we always are.
