Perhaps some of them will come home, the numbers diminished, but how large of a permanent presence will there be? What does this say about exit strategies and long-term plans? These people are, have been, and will be doing anything they want, as they want to do it.

A few repubs are able to shoot down any items the new demo majority press into existence anyway. wtf?

And remember, there are no plans to go to war with Iran either. It's not like an escalation in fighting could result in rising repub poll numbers and a real problem for the Presidential race in 2008. You just can't plan for these sorts of things. Ahem.

Should I change to a thinner grade of tin foil? This stuff makes my ears stick out.

3. Bases
in Iraq are old news. It's just another make-work project for Helliburton to get more of our money. If our congress had any sense, they would cut funding for any of these projects. I only hope that some day there will be an accounting of all these war crimes and profiteering.

Senior leaders of the religious conservative group known as Al Qaeda have gained control of the Afghan/Pakistan border and have set up training camps.

5. Troops come home in 2009
After a Democrat takes the Presidency. There is no other way to get them out of there until then.

7. I thought you'd typed 2029 for a moment. Joke is, they'll simply rename Iraq "Home"
so the troops are already "home".
