"Mean" Jean worries about the cost of the Iraq Debate!
Jean Schmidt's floor statement

From the Congressional Record:

Mrs. SCHMIDT.

Madam Speaker, I rise tonight after another long day out of disappointment--disappointed that we are not having a real debate about how we win in Iraq. We have spent countless hours in what is little more than political theater.

This body is scheduled to meet 145 days this year. Just to open our doors, we spend over $8 million for each legislative day. This debate will cost some $30 million, yet it will yield nothing but a partisan vote on a nonbinding resolution after literally hundreds of speeches designed to do no more than charge up one's own political base.

I am deeply disappointed. The people expect more from us. They expect solutions, not grandstanding. They expect both parties to work together. There will be no victory when our votes are tallied. We will have every problem we began with, but be even further apart politically.

Tonight, I believe we embarrass ourselves before our brave men and women in uniform, before the American people and before our enemies.

5. She should be worried about the cost of the WAR. LIVES are expensive Jean. Uugh would you
freaking figure it out so people can stop dying already. Every minute spent in this war, not debating, costs us so much it makes $30 Million look like milk money!

How stupid do people have to be to vote for someone so clueless to represent them?

6. Oh jean you don't need any help embarrassing yourself
I look back lovingly on how you and your kind did such a great job of "working together." Such a great job that the American people had enough and decided to change the balance of power.

I take it the lobotomy wasn't successful, heh Jean? I didn't think it possible but she gets more and more loony with each passing day.

Jean, how much money have you voted for to keep Bush's folly in Iraq going? Not to mention the LIVES wasted! :grr:

13. If she would just shut up it wouldn't be political theater
Now that she's worried about the cost, someone should tell her what the war debt is. She at least got it right with this statement:
"Tonight, I believe we embarrass ourselves before our brave men and women in uniform, before the American people and before our enemies."
Though I think she's using the royal "we". Let's hope those brave men and women don't later run for Congress as Democrats cuz she'll accuse them of cowardice.

16. I'd be hard pressed to find
some other way of embarrasing ourselves more than what has already been done in our name.
1. Started an illegal war of agression.
2. Falsified NIE (felony) to justify Illegal war.
3. Lied Repeatedly to justify said war.
4. Failed to apprehend Osama Bin Laden.
5. Failed to find WMD's "we know where they are" ie Rumsfeld.
6. Failed to find Terrorist connections.
7. Failed to supply the best armor and equipment to troops.
8. Failed to secure any part of Iraq including the Green Zone.
9. Failed to report the facts honestly IE; body counts.
10 The list goes on and on.
11 We the people failed to Impeach these Murderers.

17. Jean, since you're worried about wasting money
Edited on Sun Feb-18-07 02:22 PM by Gman
what about 600 tons of bricks of $100 bills passed out to anonymous people from the back of a truck and used for footballs? Don't you think that's a bit more important than the debate? Do you maybe think the treasury was literally looted of this cash? And, since we're talking about partisanism, why didn't the GOP Congress investigate this? It's been common knowledge for quite a few years now.
