Libby Trial - What Next - If The Defense Rests - Does It Go To The Jury?.......
when would we expect to have a verdict? What's the timeline? If Libby is found guilty - do you think there will be an appeal? If no appeal - what would be the penalty for Libby? How many years is he facing - given he gets not pardon from *?

With some of the revelations that came out at the trial about Cheney and Rove - what is Fitz's next move? or has it just died on the vine?

1. Sounds like their bet is on jury nullification, and failing that, appeal
And the lawyers pleading with Libby to make a deal.. or, try to get a pardon from Bush.

As for how many years, max is 30 but it'd be according to sentencing guidelines. Bottom line is, though, it'd at the very least be several years unless a deal or a pardon is coming, in the event of conviction.

2. ABSOLUTELY there will be an appeal
Wells has more than telegraphed that. My own prediction: Appeal will be dragged out until the waning days of the Cheney Junta, at which point Scooby gets pardoned

We've had some interesting dirt come out of this trial, but unfortunately, no Darth testimony, no KKKarl indictment or testimony ... I'm feeling a little deflated today, frankly.

3. Closing statements first then to the Jury. Usually no more than a week.
After the verdict it is typically one month until sentencing if guilty. Once sentenced, the defense will most likely ask for a stay of sentence pending appeal. This is rarely granted. Report to the facility is typically 30 days after sentencing.

imo a pardon is unlikely and the typical sentence that he might be looking at is 24 months. The judge could depart from the guidelines (also unlikely and just sentence him to halfway house time or even home confinement. Perjury does not carry a particularly stiff sentence.

4. Fitz did the major damage before the trial even started.
The infighting, coalitions, alignments etc that he caused in the WH.
How it all ends we won't know for some time.
