Breaking: Al Gore Nominated for Nobel Peace Prize!!!
And you thought two Oscar nominations for "An Inconvenient Truth" was big news?

Al Gore has just been nominated for the 2007 Nobel Peace Prize. And boy, no one deserves this more!

http://www.cnn.com/2007/POLITICS/02/01/gore.nobel.ap/index.html

And please sign the petition asking him to run for President. What other candidate has ever stepped into a presidential race with (possibly) an Oscar and a Nobel Prize in his pocket?

http://www.ipetitions.com/petition/algore2008/

Thank you.

6. Bush has both of those
His autobiography "A promise To Keep" won a Nobel Literature prize for "Best Work of Fiction", and his cumulative press conferences garnered an Oscar for "Worst Actor in a Leading Role".

14. To Clarify....He's NOT Nominated For Academy Award
The film has been nominated, for Best Documentary & Best Song, but Mr. Gore would not receive either of those awards if the film wins. The Best Doc award would go to Davis Guggenheim, the director, as is the custom for any documentary.

This is not to say Al's contributions won't be duly noted, but he technically would not be the recipient of the Oscar, nor could he claim it as his own. He was an "actor" in the film, but actors in documentaries are not nominated for anything.

15. I know, but still Al's appearance and narration brought in viewers
who might otherwise not have been interested.
Just my two cents.
Go Al!!!

23. Yes, but some who submit nominations spill the beans
Which is what happened here - - some lawmakers who submitted Gore's name to the committee went public with that fact.
