can anybody shed some light on this supposed kerry comment? this comes from one of the trolls on
another board I am on, and, being loaded up on painkillers, I just can't do the necessary searching to respond to him. any help would be greatly appreciated:

"I can understand John Kerry slamming Bush even on foreign soil but he seen to be slamming America on foregin soil.I hope there is some misunderstanding here because I believe that Kerry is patriotic but he is allowing Bush policies to get to him.

During the Clinton years many conservatives did not care for most of Clinton's policy but I have never heard a conservative slam America because they disagree with a President.

1. You get the person making the claim to back it up.
Like we do on DU all the time: "Link?"

8. the link was the newspaper article. I just wondered if anybody had heard anything more about this.
the part that cracked me up was the troll's comment that no conservative attacked the US during clinton's term. nearly cracked a rib laughing at that one.

6. What's the quote in question? I don't see anything wrong here, he speaks truth.
This looks a lot like some kind of hit piece on Kerry, with no "there" there. Been "there" before.

Its obviously written to inspire outrage, but, uh....I ain't feelin' it.

7. Does the troll disagree with this statement?:
"Kerry criticized what he called the unfortunate habit of Americans to see the world exclusively through an American lens." Sounds like truth to me.

9. He spoke the truth and nothing but he truth taking the POV of other countries
throughout the world. And his is right, we have never been more isolated. He spoke of the need for dialog and diplomacy.

10. Tell the troll that the only thing being slammed was the Bush administration
When he made his "exclusively through an American lens" comment, Kerry was expressing his concern that the Bush administration is leading Americans to become more narrow minded than they might realize. The more narrow minded that Bush can make America, the better it is for Bushco.

Because of Bush's horrific policies, Kerry is worried FOR America, not slamming it. Can't they see that?

12. Here is a DU JK thread
Edited on Tue Jan-30-07 12:45 AM by karynnj
Kerry, the Chair of the SFRC subcommittee that covers the middle east was on a panel at Daos on Middle east issues. The only comments they have problems with are:
- That he said he was an administration critic - this is proper because what it meant was that he was not speaking for the government - which is absolutely true
- He said that we need more diplomacy - which he has consistently said since before 2004 and it is a valid, but subjective statement
- He said the US has few friends - true
- He spoke of the need to not see everything through and American lens

The RW has ignored that on this panel which included the Pro-Democracy former President of Iran, that Iran should stop nuclear enrichment to defuse the crisis. Opposition Senators are not required to march to the party line.

(Eurpoean girl life blogged it from Europe where it was covered on tv -
