Will Kerry run in the 2008 election?

I think Kerry will definately run in the 2008 election. After all, he won't retire, so I think he'll run for another Senate term. Of course, he could pull a Lieberman and run for both President and Senate.

I wonder what he's going to do with all the primary money - can he transfer it to his Senate campaign?

4. Kerry is putting all focus on stopping the war. He believes it is widening and

he's determined to stop it. He'll be heading the Senate Committee that oversees that entire region, so he's planning to use the power he now has.

But, I don't expect many people to get that, even though stopping unjust wars has been in the man's DNA his entire life.

There are other stories floating around but mostly inaccurate - Kerry has plenty of money and still had most of his financial supporters.

Kerry said he was not running for President and thathe is running for Senate. He can transfer the money to his Senate account.

Also Leiberman did not run for Senate and President - he ran for Vice President and Senate. CY allows it, MA doesn't - besides Kerry said that he is not running - his big donors (who were mostly still with him) and the top campaign people who helped him win the nomination last time, are deciding who to go with. Another thread says the money people almost all went to Obama.

I remember all your anti-Kerry posts in the past week, this is pretty pathetic.

So Kerry had to choose between the Senate and the presidency - i guess he should have chosen to run in the primary, that way he could give up his senate seat to someone more deserving, like joe kennedy or Barney Frank.

Teddy Kennedy could have won the presidency in '76 but he was up for re-election that year, then he tried to screw carter in '80.

One of the only reasons I am not too disappointed he does not run is that he gets to run for the Senate and I can support him.

Joe Kennedy would not have run anyway, but there would have been a primary with about 20 people running, and a total mess.

I have no idea what your problem is, but be sure Kerry is running and it is good for the state.

Are you sure that he would have had to give up his senate seat if he chose to run for president?

I think he would have been jerk and ran for both the senate and president at the same time. Esp with deval patrick choosing a successor if kerry actually did win the wh.

That's why Edwards had the balls to not run for both Senate and President. He chose one.

1/ Yes, he could not run for 2 positions at the same time.

2/ Deval Patrick does not get to name his successor if he quits. His successor would be elected.

Moreover, what is your point? Kerry has already made this choice. He will stay in the Senate.

9. Kerry's money is already in his Senate campaign account.

It has been since 2004. And he said Wednesday he is running for the Senate. It is on his website and has been posted on DU about 40 times.

Get informed once in a while. That helps.

Us Kerrycrats have came to grips with the fact that President Kerry won't be a reality in 2008!

If Kerry decided to run for Pres in 2008 and vacates his Senate Seat and see who would run for his seat, now that would be intresting the list of Democratic candidates would be two pages long.

If the Dems stay in the majority I would see a Congressman running for Kerry or Kennedy's seat, Barney Frank probally wouldn't run cause he has tons of senority and clout in the House since he chairs the financial services committee and the same with Marty Meehan.
