Matthews had Harold Ford, jr. on his show talking up the DLC
Edited on Thu Jan-25-07 06:23 PM by KoKo01
And Ford said "all the great Democratic Ideas in the last 20 years have come from the DLC." He went on to mention all the Dem Candidates now running who have been applauded or have "roots" in the DLC.

QUESTION:

HAVE all the GREAT IDEAS from DEMS in the last 20 years come from the DLC? Ford mentioned: Welfare Reform, tough Foreign Policy, Trade and some other things that Clintons were in favor of. But, I'm trying to figure out WHY if all these great ideas came out of the DLC we've been losing House and Senate and Presidential elections.

2. The DLC is the new Republican Party and the Republicans are...
now the Fascist Party.

3. Of the 7 Dem Senators best able to win a GOP seat last election, he was the *one* I did not like.
I'll bet that's what Tennessee voters felt also. Why on Earth would they support this guy, who supports every economic elitist position there is (which in every case is the opposite of that the average Tennessee voter wants).

4. I had very bad vibes about Ford, too. Didn't post about it because
he was popular here....but I was glad when he lost. I didn't think he'd show up as new DLC Chair, though or that Dem Powers would first try to push him into Deans DNC Chair before that.

He's looking more and more like "a nasty piece of work" that needs to be watched if one is a netroots progressive trying to change our party. :-(

9. You're glad that he lost to Corker?
Yeah, who doesn't want a very short, mean Republican as Senator from Tennessee, (rhetorical).

5. So because the voters felt that way they went with a Republican?

8. Yes. They didn't have economic positions as a reason to vote Democratic so they went with social
reasons to vote Republican.
