WH attempts to redefine failure to capture bin Laden

WH: bin Laden Capture "A Success That Hasn't Occured Yet"

By Justin Rood - December 29, 2006, 8:25 AM

Five years after the Sept. 11 attacks, Osama bin Laden is still at large -- but that's not a failure of White House policy, says Frances Fragos Townsend. As she explained to CNN's White House correspondent Ed Henry last night:

HENRY: You know, going back to September 2001, the president said, dead or alive, we're going to get him. Still don't have him. I know you are saying there's successes on the war on terror, and there have been. That's a failure.

TOWNSEND: Well, I'm not sure -- it's a success that hasn't occurred yet. I don't know that I view that as a failure.

1. "A success that hasn't occurred yet?"
Beautiful bush speak. Funny how it was a failure when Clinton was President. I just so love Frances.

LTTE yesterday in the Gulfport paper blathering on about how bin laden had not been "offered" to bush like he was "offered" to Clinton, so there.

6. The "conservative" mind has been terribly wasted
I chuckle everytime I hear the "on a silver platter" line. The right wing philosophers conveniently leave out the Saudi involvement in the issue. And the spinners in the white house are wondering what the hell they are going to do when Saddamm is literally gone and the American people get even more grumpy. This whole nasty hussein mess is going way too fast for the party of responsibility. They need their bad guys alive.

2. Sure, just like my success in becoming the Rolling Stones' bass player
just hasn't occurred yet, but that doesn't make it a failure.

I suppose I could start by taking bass lessons, though...

4. Well Nance, as your future running mate and vice president...
(a success that you just haven't chosen for me yet), don't you think I
should have some input as to who plays at our Inaugural?

9. Alright already!!!
Geesh .. you can pick who plays at the festivities, okay?

But I am going to insist on my choice for the date the trial convenes for Bush, Cheney, Rumseld, Rice, et al on charges of war crimes and treason.

I think we can both agree that this is the success we all want that just hasn't happened ................... yet.
