how does one go about stopping an insane dictator?
the president is supposed to be our employee...in theory.
the fact is, if we have a deranged president, we have no recourse to remove him without help from congress.
or a military coup. or insert third choice here?

as citizens our only power (now in jeopardy) is voting. We've expressed our displeasure clearly and loudly against this war, and it only emboldens little lord pissypants to INCREASE the error.

I'm open to suggestions here, automatically NOT counting armed revolt, which wouldn't work anyhow against the coopted military.

What can we, as citizens, do to remove this madman from office BEFORE 2008?

2. Consumer revolt?
as an alternative to armed revolt, really the only trump card we have left are our credit cards.

3. You hope a well-meaning country invades your country and
overthrows your dictator, restores democracy, and institutes the Marshall Plan. Doesn't Germany owe us a favor?

4. Impeachment would be a start
Conviction on the articles of impeachment would be a necessary second step. The Founders saw fit to set up a process to impeach for this very reason.

5. it would take massive street protests to stir the congress to action
1/4 to 1/3 of the populace of multiple cities, simultaneously demanding impeachment. and odds are bush could delay the proceedings till his term ends if he so chose.

regardless, i have little faith that america will stop watching britney & lindsey & paris getting out of their ferraris long enough to stir themselves to action. the spectacle is mesmerizing.

6. It's very easy indeed.

I can do it single handedly, with minimal expense and at a cost of no political capital; it will take me less that two and a half years.

There is no possibility of Bush being removed before the end of his term, but thankfully that's not far away.

The important thing is to make sure that whoever follows him isn't just as bad.
