| Are the Repuks still holding all the cards? What's up with Lieberman |
potentially being selected by Busch as UN ambassador? For two reasons, first so the Repuk gov can select a repuk replacement senator, and second so Lieberman could possibly be a VP selectee.

| 1. That was idle speculation by Joe Conason |
And has pretty much been ruled a long-shot occurrence by others here on DU. It would be a death knell for Lieberman's political career.

| 2. Lieberman would still have to accept the nomination, |
and the thinking is he fought too hard to get re-elected to give up his seat to be UN ambassador, an appointive position. But I wouldn't put it past Bush to try to pull something devious like this for ulterior mortives (Rep. control of the Senate).

| 3. Lieberman, the independent, is the most powerful senator since |
without his vote, neither side has plurality. SO he can afford to act pompous.
