Christian teens active in elections

....
An underreported story concerns the impact of a program called Generation Joshua. Founded in spring 2004 by the Home School Legal Defense Association, Generation Joshua is designed to educate teens in their civic responsibilities and duties.
One of the highlights of the program is participation on a Student Action Team. These teams of 50 to 100 students each are sent to selected political races to aid the campaigns of candidates for public office who are both pro-home-schooling and pro-family.
....

For example, Marilyn Musgrave (Colorado's District 4), a home-school mom and the representative who introduced the Homeschool Non-Discrimination Act in Congress, won by just 3 percent, or 7,000 votes, and Peter Roskam (Illinois' District 6) won by 2 percent, or 5,000 votes. These races could have been lost if a Student Action Team had not been present to help get people to the polls.

1. Wonder if one of 'em was that creepy "Levi" from the Jesus Camp flick
That fuckin kid was everywhere in that movie. Even showed him talking to everybody's favorite gay evangelist Ted Haggard.

7. I felt sorry for Levi - wanted to "rescue" him and start the...
deprogramming! He seemed pretty far gone, but not as far as that little brunette girl proselytizing at the bowling alley. I don't think there's any bringing her back - she had that crazed, blessed look at what, the age of 10? I think 'ol Levi will hit puberty and all hell (sorry) will break loose. I would LOVE to see a follow-up documentary in about 5-10 years.

2. "Civic Responsibilities and duties"
do not include using the constitution as a weapon against citizens because you hate them.

4. remember from their point of view -- this is a ''christian nation''.
and until things change - they control the definition of christian -- cause the media sure ain't talkin to a christian like me.

so they define ''family''.

we're battling over the difinition of ''gay'' or ''homosexual''.

they define ''values'' because there was capitulation on that word as far back as reagan.

and so on and so forth.

6. I think their point of view
is grounds for a civil war. Nothing riles me up more then some yahoo motherfuckers fucking with our constitution. Incredibly ironic that religious zealots who take advantage of living in the land of the free want to destroy what gives them freedom.

9. just remember -- they get help from our minders.
that more than anything is what pisses me off.

i've always understood that i have enemies -- it's the weak as water responses from people who i know SHOULD be aggressively on my side that really burns.

3. I have to admit I wish the public schools were as zealous about
teaching civics and the responsibilities of citizenship.

5. ..
What makes the republican party pro-family. The fact that they do not want to legalize gay marriages. Why have they not made strides in trying to outlaw divorce? After all it is not a women's right to decide what to do with her body: How can she have the right to decide to end a marriage? Lots of double standards in that party. Maybe that is why they lost.
