Statement from Office of Senator Tim Johnson
Thursday, December 14, 2006
Washington, DC—The office of Senator Tim Johnson has released the following:

Admiral John Eisold, Attending Physician of the United States Capitol said, "Subsequent to his admission to George Washington University Hospital yesterday, Senator Tim Johnson was found to have had an intracerebral bleed caused by a congenital arteriovenous malformation. He underwent successful surgery to evacuate the blood and stabilize the malformation. The Senator is recovering without complication in the critical care unit at George Washington University Hospital. It is premature to determine whether further surgery will be required or to assess any long term prognosis."

Barbara Johnson, wife of Senator Johnson, said, "The Johnson family is encouraged and optimistic. They are grateful for the prayers and good wishes of friends, supporters and South Dakotans.

"They are especially grateful for the work of the doctors and all medical personnel and GWU hospital."

6. And after we praise his "quick and excellent medical care"
Let's make sure to push for the same quick and excellent medical care for every American, rich or poor.

With my current (crappy) health insurance situation I would have died. Like many others, I sometimes avoid going to the doctor because I can't afford to be wrong.

7. He got help quicker than you or I would...
There was a huge brouhaha in downtown D.C. yesterday afternoon, which I can only guess was the rushing of Senator Johnson to the hospital. Multiple ambulances, police escort, helicopters the whole works. Getting an amulance from Capitol Hill to G.W. in the middle of the afternoon would have been a formidable task without help. Lots of people die during that trip, I'm sure.

Having said that, with what's at stake I'm certainly glad they took all of those precautions.

I'm hoping for a full and speedy recovery for him.

4. What incredibly terrible news for the constitution haters amongst us
No doubt "christians" throughout the country have been praying that God takes the Senator home now. There faith must be broken that the report is a glimmer of optimism.

Let me offer some Liberal Jesus like love and best wishes to the Senator and his family.

8. I'm still waiting for Pat Robertson to say it's God overruling the wayward American people
I really loathe it when Pat Robertson makes God out to be a hitman for the Republican Party

5. Still praying for him and his family today
and I'm optomistic about his chances for recovery. It's nice they released a statement.

9. Phew. I thought it was a subarachnoid hemmorage.
I was worried, since once I actually sat right with someone who died from one.

I feel so guilty that I was concerned about the loss of his vote. It's sick that we're so frightened of our country.

I just hope he recovers fully.
