I know I can pass them up but I think we could put them someplace where those interested in them can go and the rest of us don't have to be bothered with them. Some time in 2008 we can bring them back.

There is so much more important things we need to focus on now like health care, the war, education, social security. Why spend so much time on 2008 presidential speculation. A lot of the treads are flame bate anyway.

3. Then why don't the mods move the treads to the forums?

5. I think we also need a "Love Candidate X" and a "Hate Candidate X" forum
For the rabid pre-decided.

If I were a candidate I'd certainly be interested in reading a real candidate discussion page though instead of a bunch of flamey threads in a generic forum.

7. Because that's not the purpose of the DU groups.
The forums are there so supporters of a particular candidate (or parents, or recovering substance abusers, or cooks -- you get the idea) have a place to concentrate on their interests. But it doesn't mean threads get segregated there.

Think of GD as a bar.
Think of the DU groups as interest clubs.
You can still talk about your interests at a bar...and people are free to disagree with you in a bar. But your interest club is a safe haven.

Plus, to access the groups, you need to be a donor -- should only donors get to talk about HRC?

Besides...were you here before the '04 elections? Plenty of carrying on about that in 2002-2003, too...instead of HRC and Obama it was Howard Dean, but otherwise, much of the same -- supporters, haters, people complaining it was too early. It's just the way DU works.

4. AMEN
Really, what the hell is going on here.

Democrats have two years to show they can lead.

They will have a primary to make their case.

What we are looking at is two years of Dems just trying to destroy their party one member at a time. Last weeke was destroy Obama, this week is looking like destroy Hillary.

Folks. Can you get it through your heads that America voted for Dems to clean up the mess in Washington.

One this is turning into is, who is the coolest one contest.

Gore, Love him. Obama, excellent, Hillary, maybe, Edwards, yeah, whatever, he was useless in the last election. Clark, ain't seen nothin yet.

There, I have made my vote. Now can we get to talking about issues.

6. I agree, a Prez 2008 Forum would be a good idea.
We're on the very doorstep of making history, setting our country back on track for the first time in years, marking up real accomplishments on an array of progressive issues. 2008 presidential what-ifs? Who cares?

I'm kind of annoyed at the candidates themselves, actually, tossing their hats in the ring right now. I understand that they wanted to catch the Democratic wave from the November elections (if you'll pardon the mixed metaphors) but it honestly does feel like a distraction.

Maybe it'll all die down once the Dems get down to business in Congress next month. Hopefully they'll be setting the agenda -- and making the headlines -- on a daily basis with legislation and reforms that will really strike a chord with all Americans.

That's the big task for our party right now, it seems to me: demonstrating the value of Democratic leadership. Accomplish that, and all our White House hopefuls will be stronger for it.
