Need help with an item I found at an antique store.. Can anyone give me more info on this item
I found this at a little antique store near my house and I thought it was interesting.. now I wish I knew alittle more about it..
its about 1 1/2 - 2 inches big..
very heavy
one side has a picture of King Jr. and on the back it says "I have a dream" Southern Christian Leadership conference...
its a very nice piece...

I couldn't take a good picture of it

now I found an item similar but not at nice as the piece i have on ebay and it didn't tell me anything about it besides its from the 60's
here it is

any help would be great :)

4. Searching for similar items on Ebay is a good start...
...but you'd be surprised what you can find on Google, too. Try putting in:

"Martin Luther King" "Southern Christian Leadership Conference" pendant

just like that with the quotation marks. Or use "pin" or "locket" instead of "pendant", as I can't really tell what it is from the pic. Try various combinations.

Good luck, and congrats on a cool find! :)

6. Throw in the words "antique" or "commemorative"...
...into your search too, and see what happens. :)

7. are there any markings on the reverse side?
something that indicates the maker and perhaps a karat marking?

That would tell you a lot about the value.

8. My guess is that they're memorial tokens created just after his murder
Such tokens were/are widespread in traditional communities.
