Obama will visit evangelical megachurch on World AIDS Day
First read this article in the Mercury News:

Now this is just one incident and not proof of anything, but what I'm fearing is that the Democrats will betray gay people in order to win back the presidency.

2. What y'all need to realize is that Dem values and...

...the values that Jesus taught are just about identical:

Take care of the sick: check!

Take care of the elderly: check!

Stop killing each other: check!

Make peace: check!

Give to those less fortunate: check!

Feed the hungry: check!

Don't keep people away because they're "different:" check!

The list goes on and on. I am, in fact a Christian, and THAT IS WHY I'm a Democrat. It's not the side my bread is buttered on - I'm pretty comfortable right now. It's not what all my friends are - though I do have some good "pinko" :) friends.

I am a liberal because that's what Jesus was, and to the extent that as such I'm on the way to becoming maybe just a little more like Him, count me in!

4. This is a church pastored by a man that sees AIDS as a disease
unlike people like Falwell that see AIDS as a "gay disease."

That Friday's messages will focus on AIDS and HIV, a key area of ministry for Saddleback Church. While many conservative Christians have shied away from AIDS work because of their discomfort with its connections to premarital sex and homosexuality, Warren and his wife, church co-founder Kay Warren, have been vocal advocates for patients living with the disease.

Shortly before the release of his latest book, Obama issued a call to progressives to shed bias against religious people and to recognize "overlapping values."

Obama is considering a possible run for president in 2008.

5. The Warren's aren't as anti-gay as their predecessors.
What Obama is doing is a good thing. It's been 25 years since the first reported case of HIV/AIDS to the CDC. It's amazing to me that the one place where HIV/AIDS is still a taboo topic is the Church.
