1. There is no substitute for knocking on doors.
Person to person is the only way around the church-cartels and MSM.

2. Definitely yes
because the whole entire culture of corruption exploded. It took americans awhile to catch on sadly costing them their
livelihoods before having awakened from their own personal abyss.

3. After Comparing My Local Newspaper to My Surfing, NO
the daily news isn't reaching the public through traditional media. We have become like the Middle East, where the gossip in the souk is the only reliable and timely source of information. The propaganda that passes for news coverage in this country will not sustain our democracy. The Internet is so vital that if it didn't exist, it would have had to be invented, to link like-minded people, to subvert the official lies, and to spread truth like oil over everything. Imagine if we had to depend on samizdat, as the people under Soviet oppression did, before their economy collapsed and the Russian Mafia took over. Now they get better news than we do!

I hope it doesn't come to that here. Our economy is at the breaking point and a Mafia is in charge, but at least we know about it, and can reach and teach the ignorant to defy them.

4. It was both the Internet and good memories...
Without either, we'd be a post-democratic, completely-fascist state by now.

Shows how important it is that Net Neutrality must be a topic. Along with Public TV and Radio, Public Broadband.

8. Irrelevant

1) the Dems did not so much win as the Repubs lost.

2)the Repubs had screwed up so bad that major electoral theft would have been chancy at best given the large anti-Repub turnout.

3)activist are a very small part of the populace, the vast majority of voters have never heard of DU or any other political web site.

9. The media favor Republicans
It was Youtube that showed the Macaca tape, it was the bloggers who said that the Republicans weren't winning in many states, those early calls on election night that
there was no major Democratic win to discourage West Coast turnout, when there was a
huge Democratic win.

10. I don't get how a series of tubes possibly helped us win an election
Tubes don't = votes, at least I don't think.

11. I think a more important role was played by the disgraceful GOP.
We didn't win as much as they lost. Had it not been for Foley, et al, we would have had a much harder time gaining ground and wouldn't have had the success we did. Just look at the number of close races within 2% and you can see that it wasn't an overwhelming success. The minute we forget that is the minute we lose in 2008.
