While I do agree...yes...they were incompetent.

I also think the underlying reason why RW'ers say this so much is their concern of having no control over the situation.
I see it as a desperate attempt to comfort their psyches with some form of empowerment. The empowerment of we "chose" to lose and you didn't beat us fair and square.

It's difficult to lose control.

1. They did themselves in by implementing their real agenda
the people of America have had a chance to see the GOP "Paradise" in all its Robber-Baron glory, both the foreign policy consequences and the domestic, and they don't want it.

At least five different excuses for why they lost. From Dems moving to the right to Pugs not being conservative enough. And yes, they are trying to comfort their psyches. Looking for someone to blame, as usual.
