Possibility for new majority leader
What would people here think of Rahm Emmanuel as being the new majority leader?

13. Kucinich started this whole wave
long before many folks with us today were aware of it. You're consituents are also owed that.

He was against the Iraq war long before anyone else was.

He's pushed for Troop withdrawl harder than anyone else.

He's worked his ass off on campaign finance reform.

He's pushed to fix the voting machines

Labor supports him.

The GLBT community supports him.

He deserves his just due for putting up the good fight and is right on all the issues. All the issues folks are fighting for today were being fought by Kucinich long before it was popular. Folks looking to advance these issues need to reward those who advance them.

Wanna give the left a face in this country? Start acting like it and appointing leftists to leadership positions.

12. The leadership positions are not for mavericks like Kucinich
Kucinich is a great guy and a real firebrand, but he's not a team player and would be a disaster in leadership.

Just because we like someone as a Member or agree with their stances on issues does not mean that they should run for leaderhip positions. First of all, the leaders, by definition, have to be consensus builders and must represent a broad range of views, not just their own. Also, the leadership positions are very time-consuming and don't allow their holders to do much else besides represent their districts and do their leadership duties. They have little, if any, chance to take up the causes they believe in. They also are limited in the committees they can serve on because of their limited time.

8. Steney Hoyer is a crook and SHOULD NOT be elevated. He's a good ole
boy politician and does not have a good local reputation in the metropolitan area.

10. I favor letting Speaker designate Pelosi negotiate these issues.
That's her job. I will do what I can to hold her accountable if I don't like the results.

17. Hoyer is spinless and a POS
He is a crook that voted for the bankruptcy bill and he will make us look terribly bad in the House, he dosen't deserve to be whip let alone Majority Leader.

Murtha on the other hand is a courtagous Dem that isn't afraid of nothing and will stand up for us

Murtha Good

Hoyer Bad

16. Whoever we give the title of our LEADER
is going to be target number one for the repukes. It would stupid to allow someone with ethics problems to even get close to the Leader title. He or she will be nailed and we will deserve the loss of confidence that we'll suffer in public opinion.
