The Elephant in the Room: Everyone Can See You Now!

No doubt this election was tampered with, no doubt that all the votes will never be counted, no doubt that somewhere, perhaps many somewheres, races have been stolen by the Republicans.

The difference between the last three elections and 06 is largely this: there's too much awareness of electronic vote insecurity that they couldn't steal it this time.

No high-profile races flipping from the our side to theirs, late at night.

No major exit poll discrepancies (so far as I know).

No inexplicables.

Not enough to keep us from running the table.

They couldn't steal it this time. No doubt they wanted to. They certainly knew how.

But if they gotten caught doing what they did last time, the bright light of a new day would have exposed their sorry asses, because you never stopped digging, sharing, yelling, writing, posting, working. You dragged this elephantine beast out of its dark dwelling, kicking and screaming.

The elephant is in the room. And now they know that we know it's in the room.

Our nation owes a huge debt of gratitude all of you: BradBlog, TIA, Autorank, heiderheid, gary beck, land shark, mod mom, althecat, bill bored, and so many more that I can't think of. To Andy Stephenson, who gave his country his best years. To even Bev Harris, who started the ball rolling and then she herself veered sadly off course.

To all of you: YOU are patriots.

We owe you so much.

There was starting to be enough awareness and attention paid that they couldn't get away with what they did before, like that Ohio proposition that was favored 2-1 and "lost" 2-1. They had to keep it small and within the margin of error to keep from dealing with investigations.

It may also be that they laid low to stop any criticism and reform so that they still have all available and in place when it really matters in 2008.

The elephant in the room is one that you hear regarding alcoholism. Families deny the alcoholism of the family alcoholic for endless periods until somebody finally says, "Well, a bottle of Scotch a day is unacceptable."

DUers and others have been saying over and over, "So stealing all these elections is TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE." And ofcourse, we've been derided and ridiculed but so what. We knew and we know! Enough noise was made, imho, to "freeze" the relentless war on democracy.

There are election anomalies and there were some yesterday, I'm sure, but there was no "sanction," no carte blanche from whomever , to allow the crap that went on as recently as November 2005 (read this, you'll love it).

Great point, keep the heat on. This is one of the most insightful messages I've read on DU.

5. I Believe The Reason There Was No "Sanction"

was because too many were watching. Polls had indicated that the electorate didn't trust the voting process. There was also too many patriots who had given thousands of hours of their time investigating. Voices were being raised. Even today Jack Cafferty read a letter saying the dem congress should secure the voting as one of their first orders of business.

I hope you are taking a few days off Autorank, for well deserved R & R , but don't get too comfy, this isn't over, yet.

There is a post somewhere I will find - and link below - that shows all "important" exit polls were right to within 1% except VA and MT. Which makes them kinda interesting, and it a damn shame we do not have recounts there. Perhaps activists will try to do their own. VA is probably impossible though thanks to the DREs.

It is possible therefore that there was an attempt to steal this election which failed. We may never know.

I suspect that the election stealers, whoever they are, knew from the start that stealing the house would have been far too obvious. In addition stealing the house is very complex and difficult and without house exit polls potentially hazardous.

Perhaps they also have their eyes on the main prize 2008. Who knows?

Whatever happens though we very much need to keep the momentum going. Now that the Dems have the housees, Debra Bowen has the CA SoS position and several more governorships we REALLY REALLY REALLY need to make the next 2 years count so that come November 2008 the vulnerabilities are gone.

We just happened to have the turnout numbers to overcome it. That won't always be the case, and it sure wasn't in 2004. We have to deal with this ASAP.

15. you're right, there were some thefts

The Christine Jennings race for sure, i just read about that last night after i first did the OP.

Then there's OH-15 where over in the OH forum i learned that many precincts turned 1 of 4 voters into provisional ballots. Lotsa dirty tricks here where Deborah Pryce faced a wonderful challenger, Mary Joe Kilroy. That race is still not done. There are more than 20k absentees, mostly from Dem precincts and Pryce holds a 2800 vote lead. I think that one will go Kilroy in the end.
