how can people not know how they feel about what is going on and how they plan to vote. i felt so surprised by the number of people i spoke with who hadn't decided between the republican or democratic candidate for congressional representative. and i was talking to people the organizers of the campaign believed would vote democratic and i was just there to encourage them to be sure to vote.

now, there were people i saw who had already voted or already knew who they would be voting for; it wasn't everyone who was undecided, but the number who were was a surprise to me. and this was not an upscale neighborhood. there were no likely benefactors of the bush regime living in this neighborhood.

the strategy i used in talking with the undecideds, since i had no personal information or sense of these folks other than the house they were living in, was explaining how the lack of balance, with the repubs controlling the executive and both houses of legislative houses of government, blocked any investigation of irregularities without republican approval. this is something that people may not know and i found people did respond to this issue. I would then ask them if they were happy with the current administration or if they felt there were things that needed to be investigated. several people visibly responded to this way of seeing their decision.

2. If they usually vote one way, but are thinking of changing, then they
often spend quite a bit of time being "undecided" until the election.

It's hard to convert and some people keep hoping they won't have to.

4. could be a good thing
many of those undecideds are likely former repub voters and now they are having second thoughts.

5. And if Dem. do not take Congress what will you say?
If you just hear the calls of c-span you would hear that people not only think like they always have but they do not read what you do or if they do read it do not believe it. Face it it is a fact. I hate to hear all this stuff on TV and here because I think it is over reaching. People take a long time to change their minds if they ever do.

6. I never followed the mid-term elections until 2000. When * stole
Florida, I determined to make sure I vote in every election. Most people don't care about the mid-term election.

7. This is a topic that has come up frequently while I've been driving people
to the polls during early voting. None of us could really understand how so many could be 'undecided' at this late stage of campaigning and so close to an election. I heard some rather interesting comments to say the least, but I'm astounded by the 'undecideds' this late, too.

8. I think many people pretend they're undecided...
... consciously or otherwise. They lean Democrat or Repub, and they'll pretty reliably vote that way.

With all the liberal-bashing in recent years, some people shy away from admitting it. And with the disasters wrought by the Repubs these last several years, plenty of people have backed off of wearing that freak flag, but I doubt their votes will change. I just read something today that said 90% of Repub voters are still planning to vote Repub, and that their heavy losses are, not unexpectedly, among those powerful, noncomittal few -- the swing voters.

What a thing that so much power rests in the hands of people who generally aren't paying much attention to what's going on. It's taken six years of Hell for a lot of them to notice, so here's hoping that enough of them have.

11. Or they're lonely, and want a chat. Or they like being fawned over
because it's nice to have someone appear out of the blue and make a fuss over you, actually caring what you think and taking the time to encourage you one way or another as you toil away in your pedestrian life.

After all, the "independents" are the new chic group....all the talking heads say so!

10. 11% of America considers Bush "liberal" according to a recent poll
by Rasmussen. To answer your question, people are f%^cking stupid.

12. Since they're constantly told...
... that liberals are big-spending nation-builders who are weak on national defense and have low moral values, I'm surprised more people don't consider Bush a liberal.

16. i've a cousin ,,, a rabid bush supporter.
on the rare occassion of our sharing points of view prior to the 2004 election she told me she had not made up her mind whom she would vote for ... (that didn't pass the smell test for me)... however, seizing the opportunity, i e-mailed her several "reasons to vote against bush" fact sheets.
After several of those she e-mailed back with the request that i respect her political views since she was respecting mine and added that she was intending, all along, to vote for bush since he most closely resembled her own "values" and "pro-life stance".

talk about being ignorant, narcissistic, delusional, and refusing to face reality!

No wonder she identifies with Bush values.

My cousin and i have not spoken nor e-mailed since.
