New Hampshire: Mixed-up ballots (Dems Repubs)
Double vision:New ballots could cause voters headaches
By Courtney Paquette , Staff Writer
Eagle-Tribune

When voters head to the polls on Tuesday, many will be seeing double.

Several candidates who are Republicans will also be listed on the Democratic side of the ballot.

Candidates who get 10 or more write-in votes in the primary have always been able to run on the other party's ticket if there aren't enough candidates to fill it. But changes in the ballot this year mean their names will be listed twice.

"It'll be hard for me to lose," said six-term state Rep. Kenneth Gould of Derry, a Republican who got enough write-ins to also be on the Democratic side.

5. What to watch for
What to watch for

* If you want to vote a straight ticket, don't mark any candidates in the other party's column, even if there aren't enough candidates for the number of seats on that ticket. Marking another column in addition to the straight ticket will negate your straight-ticket vote.

* Even if the name of the person you want to vote for is listed twice, only vote for that person once. It only counts once.

* Write-ins must be done on the far right side of the ballot, in the section designated for it.
