| I'm starting to believe that Jim Webb just may pull this off. |
|
It is still an uphill struggle, and would have to be considered a huge upset; but I swear to God, there is something in the air here in my beloved Commonwealth. The Allen campaign is inundated with the stink of desperation, and this time they fucked with the wrong guy. Jim Webb is a legendary marine corps warrior, and while he has resolutely kept to the high road, when his faith and his character were attacked, he got pissed. Now he's hitting back, HARD!

| 6. Yup, the DSCC has released a new poll that has Webb up |
|
quite comfortably. http://dscc.org/news/roundup/20061030_newpoll/index.htm Granted, it's a Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee internal poll which may be a bit optimistic, but I'll take it!

I think that you're right, that if anybody has the potential to pull an upset in this race it's Webb. He's basically taken down someone who was at one point considered the frontrunner for the GOP presidential nomination (although he had a lot of help from Felix himself in doing this). The fact that he is this close is really amazing.
If Warner doesn't run for the Senate (which I suspect he won't and will run for Governor again), I think that Webb would be in a great position to run for John Warner's open seat in '08 (I believe Warner intends to retire).
I think the DSCC's best move in this entire election was recruiting Webb.

I didn't know he was up by four points, though. That's great news!

| 7. Now a Rasmussen apparently shows more good news..... |
|
Webb 48% (51% with leaners included) Allen 46% (46% with leaners)
Apparently, no-one's "leaning" to Allen.
