What is Rove up to?
This article sums up my biggest political worry right now: the self-assured Rove, despite all signs to a Dem victory on 11/7. I have to ask - just what is he up to this time? I think he may be the slimiest, least principled, most corrupt person alive today and the fact that his reputation is really on the line this time will push him even further.

"By many calculations, Democrats are ready to make big gains in the midterm elections, enough to take over the House and possibly the Senate. But White House Chief of Staff Joshua B. Bolten says there is one reason he is feeling upbeat amid so much Republican gloom.

'I believe Karl Rove,' Bolten said in an interview in his West Wing office Friday. 'Karl Rove, somewhere inside that massive brain of his, has figured out the political landscape more clearly than the entire collection of conventional-wisdom pundits and pollsters in the entire city of Washington.'

(snip)

"Rove is just eight days from having his genius designation revoked -- or upgraded to platinum status."

(snip)

"There are two questions. Is Rove just acting cocky as a way of lifting GOP morale, or does he really believe it? And, if the latter, is he deluding himself, or does once again he know something that Democrats do not?"

3. He is trying to give the GOP a positive attitude so they get out and vote.
The fact that the administration has chosen to upgrade its "informal" investigation into the fact that Sequoia E Voting is owned by a company in Venezuela into a full blown Terra Alert for the Freepers suggests to me that Karl Rove is giving himself an out. When the GOP loses the House and Senate he will claim that Chavez hacked the vote so that he can save face.

4. I despise the 'Washington Post.'
Michael Abramowitz CLEARLY knows the score. He KNOWS that the elections in 2000, 2002 and 2004 were STOLEN. Yet, there he is, puking up some story about KKKarl Rove and 'arguing' about his 'genius.'

By presenting some Rove-controlled Fantasy World as news or insight, Abramowitz qualifies as a winner of What's Wrong With The Mains Stream Media Award.

This article caused me to grind my teeth. What BULLSHIT!!!

11. Thanks!
I'm not one who buys easily into conspiracy theories, but I do know that they have stolen elections before and I'm sure KR was behind it. His confidence and swagger right now make me think he's up to his old tricks - and probably a couple of new ones too.

7. On PBS' NEWSHOUR, Brooks and Shields made projections on the 06
outcome.

Neither felt Rove's confidence was grounded. There was a sense that Rove has to rally the troops, to limit the damage, to contain the tide, and is using his reputation as an evil genius to buoy Republican hopes.

But later this weekend, Jim Lehrer asked Pew pollster Andrew Kohut his take, and Kohut said there was no reason for Republicans to be encouraged.

Rove's bluffing.

10. Rove belongs on the bottom of the food chain.
I don't trust him for a second, not after what he pulled off in '04...
when the clock stuck midnite & Kerry was in the shower getting ready to make his acceptance speech...how things quickly changed.

AND now with all of the msm reporting on the voting machines.

uh-uh. It's more than a positive attitude. He's a crook.

12. A one trick pony
That's what Rove is. He used up his small bag of tricks in the last election. Now he's a blowhard like a pro wrestler on the losing side.

14. he is just trying to spin and boost morale.
http://www.mydd.com/story/2006/10/30/71417/418 - paragraph 2

Let me just first of all state that Karl Rove is on crack. For all his talk of a 72 hour program (the basis of advantage which seems to be leafletting super-church parking lots the Sunday previous the election) and having THE polls, he's merely befuddling the reporters of the simple fact that remains the core of this election: The independents are aligned with Democrats. It was that way last week, and it's been that way all the time, since last summer.

http://www.pollster.com/mystery_pollster/karl_roves_math.php

We cannot see that data, unfortunately, but we might be able to judge Rove's spin by the number of partisan polls that have been publicly released by the campaigns and party committees. Of the polls in our House database, 43 of the partisan polls released since Labor Day came from Democrats, only 11 from Republicans.

I am not giving away any trade secrets in pointing out that campaigns and party committees release internal polls only when they show good news for their candidates. Bad news rarely sees the light of day. If Rove's internal polls really add up to a "Republican House," it is hard to imagine we would not see more Republican polls showing it.

15. Imagine a man with ED and who is out of Viagra ......
.... now imagine that he just got some great porn that appeals to him .....

..... but without that Viagra, all the arm movements in the world are for naught.

THAT is what Karl is 'up' to.

17. Rove is not God
He is not omnipotent. He's just one talented political operative. But he isn't infallible.

Sometimes I think we give the same power to Rove that the RWers give to Clenis, who in their minds is also responsible for every bad thing that has happened ever.

Breathe everybody. Rove can't win them all.
