Id vote for a yellow dog if it ran on the Democratic ticket.
This expression comes from Alabama in the 1928 Presidential election when the Alabama senator refused to support the Democratic Presidential candidate. Alabama Democrats expressed their support for the Democratic Party by saying, Id vote for a yellow dog if it ran on the Democratic ticket.

Let's all vote for our "yellow dogs". Some of us will be lucky enough to be able to vote for a progressive democrat but all of us have the dream of getting more "d"s than "r"s in Congress on 11/7 so we will have to vote for the "yellow dog" in our local race.

It really is all about majority rule in the House and Senate!

Together, we can pull this off! :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo:

1. I have to draw the line somewhere, sorry to say
One candidate for local office is a crooked as that yella dog's hind leg.

I wrote in my cat.

You didn't think I'd vote for a pubbie, did you?

4. That's a fair line to draw, especially in a local race
:) Hooray for your cat!

I almost feel like I'm voting for a republican this year with Jim Webb - he's my yellow dog. This country has swung so far to the right that traditional republicans look like democrats...

I'd vote for a lot worse to get rid of George Felix Allen!

2. Golly gee, you got something against Schnauzers?
My Schnauzer has a bigger vocabulary than the dog in the WH, and he doesn't choke on pretzels, either. He could be the Top Dog in a heartbeat and both parties would love him. :)

3. I like the quote of a voter in a recent article I read...
I wish I had the article but it was something like, "I'd vote for a clown over (Rethug candidate)." I remember the voter wasn't a Democrat, which made it even sweeter.

6. There's a lot of that sentiment this year -
I recently used the yellow dog quote in a school paper and learned it's source. Reminds me a lot of this year where some of us have to remind ourselves of what we're really voting for - majority rule in the House and Senate.

5. that's why the Democratic party was the majority party for most of 60 years
... of course there were always chihuahuas, those DINO hunters more concerned with rooting out party heretics than defeating Republicans, nipping at our heels just like now.

10. I think that's how Angelides will get most of his votes
Phil "Who?" Angelides is IMHO a party hack who seems to be running a campaign so subtle that no one is aware of it, but there is no way I am going to vote for Arnold as CA governor.

11. The 1928 Democratic Candidate was Al Smith....
A Catholic...

It wasn't all that long ago that people wouldn't vote for a "fucking papist..."

Things do change if you stay involved with the process....

12. If I could vote, Casey would probably be my yellow dog.
He's obviously better than Santorum, but I'm not a big fan of his. I'd be happy to vote for Rendell and Murphy, however.
