Congresswoman(R) Calls Cops on "Unruly", Donut Bearing Seniors
Yesterday, staff at Rep. Melissa Harts (R-Pa.) district office called for three armed police from nearby Hampton Township to disperse the group of seniors, all members of the Pennsylvania Alliance for Retired Americans (PARA), who sought to deliver donuts to Harts office to protest the new Medicare law.

Hart's statement:
"Our office is a place of business not politics. Their unruly behavior not only inhibited our ability to assist constituents with real requests for help. It also infringes on our constituents privacy..."

2. Unruly seniors "terrorize" god fearing christian congresswoman
congresswoman proclaims medicare reform not a real issue and tells oldsters to fuck off and die as only a good christian would.

A politicians office not a place of politics??? Well knock me over with a republican congressional scandal.

3. is there a senior blogosphere? I hope the seniors in this country hear
this story and come out and sweep these idiots out of our government. This congresswoman displays the rampant idiocy, incompetence and abuse of office/power characteristic of the Republicans. "I can't hear you... not gonna listen ... you don't count ..."

5. The seniors blogosphere
is more commonly known as the coffee shop. Or the supermarket. Or the bingo hall. When it comes to this sort of thing, I think the seniors have more effective communications than even the Internet provides ;)

Those coffee get togethers are much more powerful then any blog.

I remember 40 years ago my Grandfather would hang out on the town square with all his buddies every thursday morning. All community business was taken care of in that two hour session; along with all the gossip being spread.

8. We still do that, you young whipper-snapper!!!!!!!!
The local coffee shop is the place to be for conversation, laughs, and political discourse. I swing by just about every morning after getting my mail. There's several big tables in the center of the room and third cup is on the house. The local pols show up, R and D, and we have at her.

The best time is usually the morning after a Town Council meeting or a Bush speech.

9. I'd love to join you
I'm 52 so I'll sit in the corner and listen. But I would be a bunch of fun the morning after a bush speech.

Right next to the Am Legion Hall and the M-60 they got parked on the front lawn!

Of course your southern accent might not go to well up here in YankeeLand.

12. Right Said...
Having 'pulled the vote' for parties over the years, I can honestly say...your absolutely right. The internet is good for some things, but it has some of the same problems of media; control and disinformation...not to mention the fact it can be turned off at any moment and then all the 'net activists' will be simply staring at blank screens; their 'networks' and 'e-trees' rendered useless.

It never failed to amaze me that you still find a supporter, true blue, inspite of scandals and unpopularity, still pulling for you and it really only came down to the fact that a politician/candidate at one time, had a nice two minute conservation with them once at a coffee shop or a door step.

That's pure gold...that's why seniors especially have a lot of 'hard to get' at clout
