Well, its no surprise that we have reached the most base level. What's being tossed around is worse then mud; just gotta go as far as the outhouse and load it up. As example here:

I've always been passionate about environmental causes, though have adopted a relatively tame/mainstream strategy via good organizations such as the Sierra Club or the Nature Conservancy. Yet the battle for the heart and soul of the country we are fighting today is so compelling that it reminds me of my less tame youthful days where I identified with Earth First. EF was founded in 1980 with the motto, "No compromise in defense of Mother Earth." How about no compromise in defense of our Democracy?
I'm afraid we have reached that level now in defense of our democratic freedoms, a battle with the repuke's self ordained delusional theocracy. Whats brought me to this point? My children. I can fathom in my worst nightmare my son or daughter somehow being drug into another ill conceived repuke war. Or being a target of random violence as traveling Americans simply because Bush & Co. has enhanced the climate of fear and disdain for Americans in many parts of the world. Sad but true.
To the point. We can pull no punches! Damn Bush for bringing it to this point. No rope a dope; we have to counter punch and punch back hard. Clearly, as many repukes see their grasp on total power slipping away; they are going low. Bagging the issues. Focusing on smear and lies. Rove still has that maniacal smile. We have to fight back with equal intensity and damn it, lowness. The lives or our children may be at stake. Am I over reacting? I think not. As Martin Luther King once said, "The greatest task is to organize and unite people so that their anger becomes a transforming force." We can do it. We have to.
