I think we are seeing the end of the end. Karl's bag of dirty tricks is nearly empty--what little he has left is hackneyed, broken, and uncovered and publicly exposed within the same news cycle by the vigilant Internet forces for Truth.

If in fact it can be established that people have died under the BushCo extraordinary rendition program (and I suspect Abu Garaib alone is proof of that, although Eastern European incidents would be frosting on the cake), then we are about to see history in the making: a sitting US President and VP executed for capital, international crimes. Life in prison will not suffice.

Taking back Congress and restoring the Constitution is the beginning of the Beginning; but we must be certain that the courts at all levels, and especially the Supreme Court, are purged of the criminal enterprise that is BushCo, and its previous manifestations under Reagan, Bush Sr. and, if any members are left, Nixon, although I don't think Tricky Dick was able to do much damage in the Judiciary, if only because he was so blatant about it, and back then, the Democrats had spines and more sense.

Nancy Pelosi may end up as our first woman in the White House, perhaps against her will, but I believe she will be a credit to her sex and her nation. It will be John Conyers who puts her there. It is sad that his age may prevent him achieving the highest office, but he will be honored for his part in cleansing the nation of the filth of BushCo.

As will all of us. We are all working for this, even if only by spreading the word and voting every time. If we don't let up until BushCo and the GOP have been RICOed out of existence, our children and grandchildren could see a new Golden Age of American Democracy.

Once the house-cleaning (and Senate and Courts and Executive) is finished, then we can do the Universal Health Care, Social Security, fiscal responsibility, and Corporate Reforms that we have badly needed these 20 years or more, and restore the City on the Hill to its promised luster.

This I predict possible; for the first time in a long time, there is a reason for hope.

What is striking to me about your post is the enormous job we have as Americans to restore our core values. It could take a couple of decades to clean this mess up.
IMO, all Dems or Indi's should be mad as hell and committed to not only ridding the house of this vermin, but seeing to it that they are prosecuted for their crimes.
