10/26/06 FOX News Poll: Democrats Preferred on Most Issues

Thursday , October 26, 2006

By Dana Blanton

NEW YORK — Less than two weeks before Election Day, Democrats hold a double-digit lead over Republicans among likely voters in the Congressional election — not surprising, as Democrats are seen as the party that can do a better job on almost all of the top issues facing the country today, according to a new FOX News poll. Republicans still have the advantage on one of their traditional strengths — handling the issue of terrorism, although even that lead has tightened.

President George W. Bush’s job rating is essentially unchanged this week: 40 percent of voters say they approve of the job Bush is doing and 53 percent disapprove. And the vote for Congress looks similar to those numbers — in reverse.

Today Democrats have an 11-percentage point advantage in the Congressional election (49-38 percent), up from a 9-point edge over Republicans two weeks ago.

Almost all Democrats would vote for their party’s candidate (92 percent), and most Republicans would vote Republican (85 percent). Independents are more likely to back the Democrat in their district by 14 points (43 percent to 29 percent).

About one in 10 voters who backed President Bush in the 2004 election (11 percent) say they will support the Democratic candidate in their district — by comparison, 6 percent of those who voted for Kerry say they will vote for the Republican.

1. They have low numbers on independents in terms of committeds.
Dems have a 14% lead, which is good enough to win big, but there are a huge number of undecideds that, based on their feelings on specific issues, should break big to the Democrats.

2. The key is to stay motivated
I'm hoping the Democratic base is motivated, because we need a good solid turn out of it to win this election. The numbers look good, but we have to turn the voters out.

3. Please don't be too hard on the "repukes"
That 2 point rise is coming at least partly from ex-republicans like myself. I'm voting Democratic for the first time in my life this November.

5. Why?
Each and every human (who isn't in some way disabled) was given a brain to think with.

OK now to understand how the average diehard Republican has abused his brain consider his outlook:

650,000 dead Iraqis is less worse than one comatose vegetative Terri Schiavo dying a natural death.

So PISS on all republicans. From a considerable height.

Oh and did you know that for every ONE Democrat convicted of some kind of child sexual abuse matter (very very rare among the demos) there are 44 GOP leaders getting indicted?

And the cases of child sexual assaults are much more severe (in the GOP) than the average.

Again: PISS on all Republicans. From a considerable height.

Too harsh you say? OK let me re-phrase that remark:

PISS on all Republicans. From a considerable height.

6. Welcome to DU
The one party rule this country is under is quite dangerous, regardless of one's positions on various issues.

I have long time republican friends who have told me they are voting Democratic this year for the first time, to do what they can to slow down the power grab.

I think its in all of our best interests to do so, so I won't 'thank' you, but I will tell you I think you are wise to do so.
