Green Party hopeful withdraws, now backs Farrell

NORWALK -- Looking to avoid playing the spoiler role in the ever-tightening
4th Congressional District race, Green Party candidate Richard Duffee dropped
out yesterday and threw his support behind Democratic challenger Diane Farrell.

While he didn't give a ringing endorsement to the Democratic Party, Duffee said,
"the Republican's position in the world is far worse than the Democratic position."

Duffee, a Stamford resident, criticized the Republican Party for the Patriot Act
and its "go it alone" strategy in the Iraq war.

"Diane Farrell persuaded us that she would do what she can to stop this rampage,"
Duffee said.

2. Maybe the Greens are beginning to realize what a screwed up mess
their 'spoiler' in the presidential race has brought us to.

Give credit where credit is due, this is a very decent and responsible thing for that candidate to do, even if he was assured of losing.

3. I'm glad my state is setting the example because
Ralph Nader is from CT. We needed to live him down!

Go, Diane!
