Army in Place for Martial Law in US
What this ominous news means is that when/if martial law is declared, the US Army is now ready to implement it. This country would then be under a military dictatorship. This feeds into the speculation about (1) there being another staged terrorist attack even worse than 9/11 followed by (2) martial law being declared. So much for the Posse Comitatus Act of 1878.

U.S. Army North up and running

Staff report

U.S. Army North, the Armys newest service component command reached full operational capability Monday, which means that it is fully manned, equipped and ready to assume its mission.

As part of Army transformation, USARNORTH was formed to become the dedicated Army service component command to Northern Command, the unified command responsible for defending the homeland and coordinating defense support of civil authorities.

Located at Fort Sam Houston, Texas, USARNORTH achieved initial operating capability in September 2005, and is responsible for specific missions, including:

Execute homeland defense and defense support of civil authorities missions.

Provide training and readiness oversight of certified weapons of mass destructioncivil support teams.

Conduct the Army-to-Army portion of the theater cooperation mission with Canada and Mexico.

Coordinate the activities of defense coordinating officers and their elements assigned in each Federal Emergency Management Agency region.

Organize up to two task forces that, with augmentation, can become joint task forces and deploy within the operational area to command and control Department of Defense forces responding to homeland defense or civil support operations.

For the past 12 months, USARNORTH has been building its organization, readiness and mission capability. USARNORTH officially assumed the Army component command duties from Forces Command on Oct. 1.

It's just that posting such often causes your posts to mysteriously vanish.

3. Sounds like something I read in 9/11 Report.
This is it.

"THE 9/11 COMMISSION REPORT
Homeland Defense Pgs 427-428

At several points in our inquiry, we asked,Who is responsible for defending us at home? Our national defense at home is the responsibility, first, of the Department of Defense and, second, of the Department of Homeland Security. They must have clear delineations of responsibility and authority. We found that NORAD, which had been given the responsibility for defending U.S. airspace, had construed that mission to focus on threats coming from outside Americas borders. It did not adjust its focus even though the intelligence community had gathered intelligence on the possibility that terrorists might turn to hijacking and even use of planes as missiles. We have been assured that NORAD has now embraced the full mission. Northern Command has been established to assume responsibility for the defense of the domestic United States.

Recommendation: The Department of Defense and its oversight committees should regularly assess the adequacy of Northern Commands strategies and planning to defend the United States against military threats to the homeland."

US Army North sounds good to me but in the wrong hands it could be bad. This makes 2008 more important than ever.

17. Thats My Question Also
Most of the military not in the Middle East, refitting for future deployment, or tied down in other commitments (South Korea, etc.) are not ground pounders.

Aegis missile cruisers, ballistic missile squadrons and aircraft mechanics are not much use in enforcing domestic martial law.

We are a country of 300 Million. Also, could you imagine being in the infantry company that is tasked with putting the clamps on South Central, East St. Louis. etc. etc.

5. Right.
Fat lot of good declaring martial law is going to do with the entire armed forces bogged down in Iraq.

is setting all of us up to show some discourse/discontent regarding the outcome of Nov. 7th election to get this martial law enforced?

8. Hang on here....
Yes, I worry about martial law being declared....but...
another thing I wonder about since reading this one sentence....

"Conduct the army to army portion of the theater cooperation mission with Canada and Mexico." (what the hell does that mean?...I think Mexico has an army, but does Canada?)

and this...located at Fort Sam Houston, Texas...isn't that the same area where they are starting to build that super highway for the North America Union? (Canada/US/Mexico)

Is this why he has been trying to grab control of the NG since he got into office?? So the individual states will NOT have any force to defend themselves with, against foreign/domestic enemies when the shit hits the fan...pretty sneaky mr B...

11. I don't know...
I was always of the understanding that the NG is each state's military force to be used for that state's defence against foreign or domestic threats...and IF I am right..then how can he federalize them at any point...???I thought he had to ask permission from the governor of any state, to take their NG and use them for any reason that has nothing to do with that state since the NG is under control of each individual state's governor?....but * HAS been attempting to take control of the NG and federalize them on a permanent basis ever since he took office...and we must NOT allow him to do so...(however...* seems to do exactly what he pleases, no matter what the rule books say, so I have no doubt he will do exactly as he pleases with the NG when it comes right down to it)...

12. I was thinking back to the sixties, in Selma.
LBJ federalized the Alabama NG to protect MLK and his marcher. I'm sure Gov. Wallace would have not given permission, i could be wrong.

16. yes but
Johnson federalized the Alabama NG....for use in Alabama, to protect citizens of Alabama....not for use in another state....I can't remember clearly how that all happened any more...guess I will have to do some research and refresh my memory...
