Troops who can't pay bills can't be deployed
In this fucking incredible bush economy our kids in uniform are having a tough time paying the bills and those who get into financial binds jeopardize their security clearances and make them nondeployable.

http://www.boston.com/news/nation/articles/2006/10/22/more_troops_denied_duty_because_of_debt/

And the number of those in financial binds is in the thousands. Meanwhile, in an attempt to "support the troops" bush and rumsfeld have seen to it that the troops will receive a payraise this year less then that given to retirees and social security recipients. And those in Iraq are sitting ducks just waiting to be killed because bush has no plan, no strategy, no goals, no objectives. But he does have his loyal base of CONSERVATIVE idiots and morons, too proud to admit he and they are and were wrong all along.

3. local AAR interview Saturday with the San Diego Sub Base Cmdr
He was talking about this very thing and how it is so hard to get these guys to use services like Navy Relief. He said the biggest problem is that the payday loan shark places prey on the young and dumb and they just get deeper into financial trouble.

I've always want to sue out of existence every one of those scummy places because they fuck over the working man, now I just want to start firebombing them.

4. I had a fine young Sailor working for me about 15 years ago
He was a hard worker, very reliable, knew his job but his finances were pure Hogan's Goat. He was the classic young Sailor financial disaster. And of course the payday loan places were right outside the gate where he went straight to after I counseled him not to. He ended up discharged other then honorable and went to jail. An incredible waste.

go to Iraq - military or not. We'll probably get there soon enough.

Although Howardx, above, makes an excellent point.

16. Either go to debtors prison, or go to war. Some choice.
Wouldn't surprise me to see it happen.

In the '60s, young people in trouble were often given the option of jail or join the military.

While I firmly believe that ANYTHING, which keeps them out of combat is a good thing... This crap is transparent as hell... The current leadership of Admin, House and Senate is so sold out to gigantic financial concerns that they are willing to sacrifice the war effort to protect profits arising from their more heavily indebted slaves. They can't pay back debts, if they're dead.
