Wana Dubie -- he's serious, and he's fed up
Candidate for 150th District representative says he wants to bring the people together.

<snip>
Dubie, 47, of Salem admits right up front that he's not a politician.

But his candidacy is setting the stage for a Dubie vs. Blunt race in '08, he said

"I'm a fed-up citizen; I feel I have no representation," he declared. "I'm running for state representative because it's the only job I qualify for because I don't have to be drug tested."

<snip> He is proud of his own version of the Boston Tea Party a crop of marijuana growing in plain sight in his yard. But it cost him five years in jail.

"It was a statement," he declared.

"Addiction is a human frailty not a criminal act," he continued. "I need marijuana for my chronic pain. It's cruel and unusual punishment to deny me God's plants that relieve pain and force me to purchase stuff made in pharmaceutical factories that's witches' brew."

Dubie feels that the war on drugs is treason because our government is at war with the people. The government makes money on wars, so the war on drugs is big money, too, he said.

<snip> "He's for real," said Phelps County deputy clerk Michelle Bock. "That's what he goes by."

Also, Carrie Bebermeyer, deputy communications director at the office of the secretary of state, confirmed that, "His legal name is on the ballot."

Gotta love this. "Chief Wana Dubie" is his real name! He is running in a very conservative rural MO district. He's a little extreme, but makes some very good points. Interesting to see him get press in Blunt's hometown.

7. Not sure if he is......
That's a pretty conservative district. It was held by a Conservative Dem until a special election last year when it went Republican.
