The Pathetic State Of Democratic Party
Websites. I compared the the http://www.GOP.com with the http://www.democrats.org/ website before, but event the state party websites are crappy by comparison. Compare http://www.kydemocrat.com/ and http://www.rpk.org/
Republican websites are dynamic and easy to use. They have an "Action Center" on the front page LTTE links, call talk radio links as well as upcoming fundraising events. You can create your own GOP team website

MyGOP is the next generation of political organizing. It's an online gathering place for Republicans, and a personal Campaign HQ all rolled into one. Here's how it works. You set up your own personal website on GOP.com, with your message and your photos. You set the goals. You build a team. It's your own version of GOP.com - built just for you.

Already a volunteer? Login.

With myGOP you can:

Build and manage your own personal GOP Team. Let everyone know what’s new on your MyGOP site.

Set the goal, tell your friends, and receive credit for every RNC contribution you generate. Republican candidates are depending on the generous support of your team.

Recruit your friends as GOP Volunteers and track your progress.

Encourage friends to register to vote – and see the impact you’ve made.

Upload photos and show your Republican colors.

1. Unfortunately they have much more expendable cash
Edited on Wed Oct-18-06 05:48 PM by MaineDem
They have money that can go to glitzy websites. Most state Democratic Parties are struggling to raise money.

It would be nice to have the support the GOP has but it ain't happenin'.

PS. Did you leave "websites" out of the subject line on purpose?

2. No excuse for this. The DNC chairman is rightly celebrated as the one
who helped usher in this new "internet age" of voter outreach and mobilization. We have to fix this.

This is an excuse to bash.

11. Exactly! The GOP is outstripping the Democratic Party online. However,
there is one interesting tool
http://www.democrats.org/page/content/partybuilder/

PartyBuilder is a set of online tools designed to empower Democrats to take control of the future of their party. Through technology, we're moving people from email and websites to canvasses and rallies.

PartyBuilder isn't the typical online tool set. Individual users control most of the activity – from blogging, to setting up and managing groups or activists, to organizing and managing real-world events, to fundraising, Democrats are entrusted to build the space and the Party.

Take a minute to explore the different features, then invite your friends and connect with each other to help build the Party for 2006 and beyond. PartyBuilder gives you everything you need to take online action for real-world results.

14. That's a good website
very MySpacey, so the interface is familiar.

Like I said...things are getting better.

3. As if....
there isn't an army of computer-savvy Democrats willing to loan their coding ability to the effort.

There needs to be a broader connection between the Democratic party apparatus and the grassroots, and this little website problem you highlight is symptomatic of that.

Democratic politicians have been going with hired hands for too long and have forgotten that some of the best gifts of a healthy democracy are free.

But things are changing.

4. If we are so bad, become a damn Republican.
They are such moral creatures. They have so much money they don't need to think twice about fancy stuff.

This is really sickening for you to do this right now.

Look on the right side of DNC site. There are some great tools being formed.

Are you donating regularly or are you one of those sitting back and gloating that Republicans have a fancier website.

as all your rich donors head off to jail or get indicted.

9. How dare you criticize KY Democrats?
They have their work cut out for them in the battle of the two parties.

This is one of the most petty posts I have seen here lately.

I think I will let some friends of mine at the KY site see your message.

Aw come one, what are we waiting for. We have been underdogs for years, we are coming out of the utter darkness....so let's all bash the website without actually putting it in the subject line.

16. Yeah, what a great idea. Especially since we actually have a shot
at getting back the House.

The bottom line is the Republicans have tons of money to burn on campaigns, websites, mailers, etc.

Angry Data Nerds Rain on Democratic Parade

http://www.observer.com/20061023/20061023_Chris_Lehmann_pageone_newsstory6.asp

"The problem lies, specifically, within the geeky subculture of Democratic get-out-the-vote strategists and data managers—the guardians of the voter information that has become the lifeblood of recent elections. Just as the Democrats were making strides toward the ultimate goal of catching up to the finely tuned Republican micro-targeting operation, the Democratic corps of data nerds became engaged in a low-grade civil war, trading old allegations of miscues and strategic gaffes in the run-up to the 2004 election."
