question on where my donations should go
My long-awaited raise has kicked in (I am a university professor) and I'd like to pose a question to everyone on DU: Should I be making my (extra) donations to a group like DCCC or the party, or should I single out individual candidates at this point? I was thinking of sending my final contributions for this cycle to senate candidates McCaskill(MO), Ford (TN), and Webb (Va) but I am asking for suggestions. Any and all opinions are appreciated.

1. It is a decision you must make on your own
I may suggest that you look at the campaigns and see who needs the most help and compare that to the ones that most closely agree with your values and go that route.

Don't let anyone tell you where to put your money, that is too republican-like

2. I would donate straight to the campaign.

That way 100% of your money reaches the campaign. I don't know what the DCCC skims off the top...

YMMV of course.

5. Ned Lamont could use some help.
Really, I know he's rich and all but his "war chest" is down to about $300,000 while Holy Joe Lieberman has about 10X that amount (most of it from Republican backers I'd wager).

Just a thought. You asked. ;)

6. Nancy Boyda in 2CD in Kansas would appreciate a donation
Her poll showed her ahead of GOP incumbent Jim "Sweetheart House Deal/ARMPAC-receipent" Ryun. Ryun's campaign did their own poll but has refused to release the results for the past month.

As Nancy says, "Nothing will change, until WE change Congress!"

Help us turn Kansas blue! Show Boyda some love! Give her some bucks!

fwiw, I'm in the 3CD with Democratic incumbent Dennis Moore. He's running against a fundie and all the polls show Moore way ahead. I'm working to get Kansas a second Democratic Congressional Rep.

7. I've been making small donations
to several campaigns because I feel more involved with all those great candidates running all over the country. Plus, it feels more grassrootie :D

From the lovely responses I've gotten from those campaigns, I know it means just as much too them too :loveya:

Personally, I don't send money to the DSCC, DCCC or DNC because I have no control over that money. Nor do I send it to PACs, for the same reason. I'm a huge Edwards supporter for instance, I'll still send a donation directly to the candidates he stumps for.

Also, I know many DUers are working really hard with their boots on the ground, so I try and cover as many of their candidates too.

Thank you for your Webb consideration :hi:
