Sen. Rick Santorum and Democratic challenger Bob Casey bickered about everything from the incumbent's residency to immigration in a contentious debate Thursday that was their first in Pennsylvania.
"Don't be a desperate campaigner," Casey, the state treasurer, told Santorum.

Santorum, who has trailed Casey in polls for months in one of the nation's most competitive Senate races, had to defend himself as the debate opened with a question about his decision to keep a home in a Washington suburb where he primarily lives with his wife and six children.

"If this race comes down to who's working harder and who does their job better, mine as state treasurer, his as a U.S. senator, I'll win that battle," Casey said.
