Bush: "Nobody's accused me of having a real sophisticated vocabulary"

Bush: 'Cut and run' rhetoric result of less 'sophisticated vocabulary'

RAW STORY
Published: Wednesday October 11, 2006

United States President George W. Bush today claimed that a less "sophisticated vocabulary" than that used by Democrats justified his characterization of their Iraq policy as "cut and run."

Bush made the comments at a news conference in the White House Rose Garden this morning.

A transcript of the exchange follows:
#

QUESTION: One of the things Democrats complain about it is the way you portray their position --

BUSH : Oh, really?

QUESTION: -- in wanting to fight the war on terror. They would say you portray it as either they support exactly what you want to do or they want to do nothing.

BUSH : Hmm.

QUESTION: We hear it in some of your speeches. Is it fair to portray it to the American people that way?

BUSH : Well, I think it's fair to use the words of people in Congress or their votes. The vote was on the -- on the Hamdan legislation, do you want to continue a program that enabled us to interrogate folks or not?

And all I was doing was reciting the votes. I -- I -- I would -- I would cite my opponent in the 2004 campaign when he said there needs to be a date certain from which to withdraw from Iraq. I characterize that as cut-and-run because I believe it is cut and run. In other words, I've been using their votes or their words to characterize their positions.

QUESTION: But they don't say "cut and run."

BUSH : Well, they may not use "cut and run," but they say "date certain" as to when to get out before the job is done. That is cut and run. You know, I -- nobody's accused me of having a real sophisticated vocabulary. I understand that. And maybe their -- their words are more sophisticated than mine, but when you pull out before the job is done, that's cut and run as far as I'm concerned. And that's cut and run as far as most Americans are concerned.

And so yeah, I'm going to continue reminding them of their words and their votes.

6. Why not debate the man instead of reminding us all what an idiot you are.
Of course, debating Kerry on Iraq withdrawal would serve that same purpose - remind us all what a MURDEROUS idiot you are.

18. It's easier for Junior to say "I know what he MEANT"...
...that was the real stunner. The words "cut and run" never emerged from the mouth of a SINGLE Democrat, but Bush...humbly excusing himself for being less than a Rhodes Scholar...informed us that they MEANT it, even thought they never actually SAID it.

Hey, I say trust him on this one. He hasn't lied to us before...why would he start now? Bush is like Karnak the Magnificent...he knows all, he sees all, and his answers are kept in hermetically-sealed envelopes in mayonnaise jars on Funk & Wagnalls' back porch.

7. So he defends his statements on the grounds of...
...incoherence? Oh, well, now that we know you don't have the words to express what you're thinking, Shrubby, we understand your Presidency much better. You actually are a wonderful, caring, compassionate conservative, it's just that, with your limited vocabulary, it comes out as garbled fascist idiocy. Thanks for clearing that up.

As KO so eloquently described, no democrat or other critic has seriously suggested ending all surveillance. Rather, they/we are simply asking that it be done in accordance with our constitution.

Nobody's accused him of having a overly developed sense of decency or ethics lately, either.

26. you're right
i saw a clip the other day from the "debates" when he had that mysterious bulge on his back

he started to answer something, caught himself, cocked his head to one side and listened for a few seconds, then sort of shook himslef awake and answered

how in hte fricking hell did this country let that go? we had them red-handed. it was bloody obvious. the press dropped it, and the people dropped it, and fricking VOTED for him. It was like voting for a frickin TURNIP! with Rove et al as who you were really voting for, but without their being subjected to scrutiny.

But it HAPPENED! I STILL can't get over it. I was stunned when they were able to steal it from Gore, but after four years of exposure to this nincompoop he was REELECTED!

A lot of people relate to that.
Many people have also "never been accused of wanting to listen to a sophisticated vocabulary."

There are many people who don't like to have to try to deal with language they are unfamiliar with.
"Short, simple, and to the point" is why they relate to him.

15. No, Mr. President -- that's because a) you haven't got one of those, and
b) people who know what words actually mean, would not "accuse" someone of having a positive attribute. (And I'm not including your habit of slamming people for being "too liberal".)

For the same reasons, I would never "accuse" you of being kindhearted, gracious, or respectful of the great power which has been handed to you.

20. When we first moved to Florida almost thirty years ago,
we lived just north of West Palm Beach and were pretty impressed by the gorgeous mansions of Palm Beach on the shores of the Atlantic Ocean. The Kennedys had a summer home here. The oil and automobile barons had built palaces to die for. Even Trump had Mara Lago, owned at one time by the Post family. But soon we found out from the locals that these folks were actually the "wanna bees"...the really REALLY wealthy, old money people lived in Hobe Sound, far removed from the trashy nouveau rich. One of the homes belonged to Bush's grandmother, Dorothy Walker.

Trust me, Bush is not a Texas-good-old-boy-come-up-on-his-own. The money in his family is the kind that can buy America and ten small countries five times over.

22. Imagine any other WH occupant uttering such a ridiculous
statement at a press conference, publically admitting to being an intellectual lightweight. Unfortunately too many Americans see this as a strength rather than a weakness.

Would anyone want to be operated on by a surgeon who admitted to being unskilled with a knife?
Or defended in court by a lawyer who was unprepared and unfamiliar with the case?
Or want their taxes prepared by someone who failed math?
Or insist their home be built by someone who didn't understand the basics of construction?
Of course not.

In so many areas of our life we expect excellence. We want the best. Yet, when it comes to voting for our nation's leader, millions of people accept, even promote, mediocrity, and we end up with a dumbass.

The chimp's statement should have immediately been challenged. "What do you mean? Are you proud of your limited vocabulary?"

But, no, the whores let it slide because they're every bit as intellectually lazy and incurious as Bush. Just shameful.

29. Perhaps not, Sir, but has anyone accused you of having tertiary syphilis?
Please repeat this phrase: "Methodist Episcopal".

(Many years ago, I remember reading in a medical journal that people with tertiary syphilis had a hard time saying that phrase, and that most of them couldn't pronounce it properly. I am no expert--just saw a cast-off medical mag.)

I'm not saying that's what the bastard has, but he's sure as hell got SOME sort of brain dysfunction. Seriously.
