AP: Allen Didn't Disclose Stock Options
http://www.lasvegassun.com/sunbin/stories/bw-elect/2006...

For the past five years, Sen. George Allen, has failed to tell Congress about stock options he got for his work as a director of a high-tech company. The Virginia Republican also asked the Army to help another business that gave him similar options.

Congressional rules require senators to disclose to the Senate all deferred compensation, such as stock options. The rules also urge senators to avoid taking any official action that could benefit them financially or appear to do so.

Those requirements exist so the public can police lawmakers for possible conflicts of interest, especially involving companies with government business that lawmakers can influence.

Allen's stock options date to the period from January 1998 to January 2001 when Allen was between political jobs and had plunged into the corporate world.

1. How can anyone defend behaviour like that or say it doesn't matter?

2. I just read the same thing on Yahoo!! 23 min just posted

Looks like Allen is going down as KR says: "BIG TIME" Party of Corruption, who thought because they controlled the entire Gov't , they had a free pass, by speaking the religious song, while pulling the wool over the uninformed followers...

3. We can take comfort Sen. Allen has received no stock options giving a hint
of a conflict of interest because he's the type of guy that surely puts the interest of his constituents and his country ahead of personal gain, avarice, or greed.

4. Of course
--very comforting words, indeed. And besides, most politicians are in politics in order to make life better for their constituents. That is why they will lie, cheat, and connive to make the cut. They love us. Well, at least OUR wee lot of elected "do gooders" luv US!!! Uh-huh!
