Is Pelosi playing the part of the LOYAL opposition or
positioning herself for Speaker with the "thug" comment?

Should DU email her with:
1. support
2. disdain
3. or just stay neutral

3. political positioning
is it me or does this soapbox make my ass look fat?

I'm disappointed - Chavez is not a great statesman or orator, and plus he's still mad at us for that silly attempted coup five years ago.

But I'm more disappointed that we noticed he farted than that he farted, so to squeak. I am annoyed with the wishy washy posturing on our side.

2. Support her. Its not about the Speaker job.
Re-spinning the RNC spin before they get it going. Good move.

6. Wait til after the elections
This isn't the time to start intra-party bickering about leadership posts.

7. I vote for support.
This is a situation where the leader of another country attacked and for all intents and purposes insulted the leader of our country.

For me, it goes back to the old family argument... we can fight like Hell amongst ourselves, but when it comes down to it, we're on the same team and to attack one of us is to attack all of us. I think this is the card Mrs. Pelosi is playing and I think it is a smart move politically.

To do otherwise would appear "un american." Whatever that means anymore.

Right now, things aren't so much about doing what we like or what we want, it is about doing what gives us the best chance to win in November, and in my opinion, this was a very strategically smart move. Politics is a very elaborate chess match that is inspected daily under a microscope.

The #1 rule of Politics is to not say anything that might "fuck you" later. And since the media isn't exactly on our side these days, I think what she said was necessary. Remaining silent on the issue would have been spun as an endorsement of what he said.

Just my opinion.
