Lots to Say (About Politics)

http://blog.aflcio.org/2006/09/20/lots-to-say-about-politics/

Christopher Nowicki mentioned below and I were in the same dist. at the State Democratic Convention. That means labor had two of the three votes in that district.

Lots to Say (About Politics)

Campaign season is in full gear and there’s lots to say about what’s going on in elections across the nation.

Got news? Send it to [email protected].

Gregory Reece in Louisville, Ky., brings up the following point about the senior senator in his state.

We need to make sure Sen. Mitch McConnell does not get reelected next year. He is married to the Labor Secretary Elaine Chao. They are both Union Busters. They do everything they can to make sure that the American worker doesn’t get treated fairly. There’s also a conflict of interest—he is on several committees that she has direct involvement with. He is also the Majority whip. We need both of them out.

Kentucky union members interested in finding out more about the candidates and issues in their state—as well as looking for ways to take action—can go directly to the AFL-CIO’s Kentucky political action page here.

State-by-state candidate comparisons and downloadable issues PDFs, along with voter registration, volunteer opportunities and more, are available at the AFL-CIO Labor 2006 political action center.

Brother Christopher Nowicki from the Machinists (IAM) in Nebraska informs us the Nebraska Democratic Party has launched a Working Family’s Labor caucus—and recruits are needed. Nowicki writes the party needs

…more Labor Delegate and Alternates at the next meeting they will elect the Working Family’s Caucus Executive Committee. The Chair will be a voting member on the Nebraska State Democratic Party Central Committee Executive Committee.
