Nicely reasoned Clark endorsement - Kalamazoo Gazette
"Although it is still early in the Democratic presidential selection process, it will be a surprise if Kerry does not win the nomination.

"Still, we would like to recommend an alternative candidate in Michigan's Democratic caucuses Saturday, the candidate we suspect President Bush would probably least like to face in November -- retired Gen. Wesley Clark."

"Clark attracted the ire of his superiors for his intense self-confidence and his willingness to defy convention when he used military intervention to protect Kosovo. But we find the traits that got him into hot water with his superiors are the very traits that would make him a good commander in chief -- his willingness to act, his ability to take the lead in deciding what must be done. "

"But we believe the Democratic Party needs someone like Clark -- intelligent, hard-working, self-made and able to lead. "
