A simple way to confront the "Democratic" vs "Democrat" thing...
Skipping about the channel last night, I saw a graphic of the not-really-an-apology from the puke house majority leader following his statement that the Democrats are more interested in protecting terrorists than the American people. His quote was something like "My Democrat friends..." and it just jumped out at me.
Here is a simple explanation to show that it is not just an ignorant misuse of grammar - substituting a noun for an adjective.
Substitute the words "Jew" and "Jewish" and the real meaning and intent to slur is clear.
"I know a Jewish person" is very different from "I know a Jew person."
It is way past time for the right-wingers (and don't get me started on the media use of "conservative" vs "leftist") to be called on this. It especially angers me to see Democratic politicians let this slide. Unless bad people and bad actions are confronted, they will continue.
3. They simply need to be corrected every time they say it...
Politely remind them that it has been the "Democratic Party" since Andrew Jackson. And sarcastically make the point,... "that a lot of people make that mistake"... :) After a few times being corrected, it will cease.
