Poll question: senate/house picture after November elections
Edited on Thu Sep-14-06 01:00 PM by sabbat hunter
how will the House and Senate look after november elections?

I think democratic candidates win seats in both houses, but not enough seats in senate to gain control. Will either be a 50-50 split or a narrow 51-49 republican majority.

thoughts?

1. I fear that Republican gerrymandering...
is going to make it impossible for Democrats to EVER control the House. In the Senate, there just aren't enough vulnerable Repukes running this cycle. If we can get 2-3 seats (and those chances look really good), we should be poised well for 2008.

So yeah, I'm taking a pessimistic view. But remember, only a pessimist can be pleasantly surprised!

2. what i am hoping for
is that a lot of republicans will be disgusted with the current situation and will stay home instead of voting at all. We need a huge grass roots campaign to get out the democratic vote. especially among young people.

6. I'm bearish
I don't believe that we will lose seats a la 2002 and 2004, but I don't see us gaining control of either House. Lower oil prices, combined with fear or terra and the RNC's wad of cash will artificially drive up Bush's level of support and supress ours. I think we'll gain 1-3 Senate seats and 5-7 House seats.

7. I Fear Massive Election Fraud by the Rethugs
They have been able to "win" every election from 2000 onwards, despite being behind in the polls every time.
