Reminder: Granholm on Kos TODAY (9/13)
Michigan Governor Jennifer Granholm will be posting a diary TODAY (9/13) on Daily Kos and answering questions from 11:15am - 12:15pm EST. Cross-posted from Daily Kos:

Wednesday: Granholm on Daily Kos...

Tue Sep 12, 2006 at 12:19:34 PM PDT

Greetings from the Granholm campaign. My name is Clint and I do a lot of the Internet stuff for the Governor's re-election effort. As the headline indicates, she will be posting a diary late on Wednesday morning to share her thoughts on the campaign ahead and her plans for Michigan in the next four years. She has set aside one hour to answer questions in the comments. If you don't see the diary, look for the User name she will be using, which is Jennifer M Granholm.

Who: Gov. Jennifer Granholm

What: Diary on Daily Kos

When: Wednesday, September 13, 11:15am - 12:15pm EST

I'll let her fill you in on the developments in the campaign, but if you want a taste here are a few things to check out. First, here's a new ad out from the Michigan Democratic Party today about Dick DeVos' record of eliminating jobs in Michigan and creating jobs in China. Second, here's some background from MichiganLiberal (a great local political site) about the DeVos campaign's attempts to get an MDP ad taken off the air. Finally, please check out our website and this Michigan Democratic Party site about DeVos.

2. If there are DUers looking for
an important race to support, this is it. Granholm has been hamstrug her entire term by a Rethug Leg. majority (both houses) and now has scAmway's Dick Devos trying to buy the governorship. We need as much help as possible to prevent an entire GOP takeover of MI.

3. You're exactly right, Julie-
Governor Granholm said just that in her dKos diary from today. DeVos wants to be the next Bush and has the resources to do it if we don't stop him now in Michigan.

Although Michigan has been a Blue state in recent Presidential elections the margin has been thin, and the reality is that we are very much dominated by Republicans – right now, I am joined in our capitol by a Republican controlled State House and State Senate, Republican Attorney General, Republican Secretary of State and a Republican majority on the Supreme Court. (And we have a majority Republican congressional delegation.) That’s why, in the past four years, I’ve had to veto more bills than any Governor in recent history. Republican presidential contenders, including Mitt Romney who is from Michigan, are already starting to make regular swings through our state. My opponent, Dick DeVos, has almost unlimited financial resources, and he has presidential aspirations. I assure you that if he is elected Governor he will go to great lengths to “deliver” Michigan for a Republican candidate.

4. Yes, the ambition and funding
that DeVos has are truly frightening. This state is a good candidate for a flood of good Dems from others states to come and help out in or donate to the Gov. race.

Thanks for posting that quote. It's an excellent summary of the situation.
