Bush: U.S. never tortures suspects...we use "alternative" interrogation

WASHINGTON (CNN) -- The CIA operates secret prisons abroad for holding key suspects in the war on terror, President Bush acknowledged Wednesday.

Though Bush said the United States never tortures suspects, "alternative" interrogation methods are used to glean information from them. These procedures "were tough, and they were safe and lawful and necessary," he said.

Bush's acknowledgement came as the president announced that he was sending legislation to Congress that would authorize military tribunals for terror suspects and set clear rules to protect U.S. military personnel from facing prosecution for war crimes. (Watch reaction to Bush's speech -- 1:55)

Also on Wednesday, the Pentagon issued a revised Army Field Manual that requires detainees be "treated humanely and in accordance with U.S. law, the law of war and applicable U.S. policy." (Watch how nudity, duct tape and electric shock are now banned -- 2:28)

2. As near as I can tell, the reasoning goes something like this:
Why, yes, we do have secret CIA prisons.

But we’ve moved those prisoners to Gitmo. They’ll be much happier there.

Do we still have secret CIA prisons? That’s a secret.

Torture? Why, no, we never torture.

We just use alternative interrogation methods.

But the Army promises not to do it again. Unless they change the rules.

Okay, the CIA might do it, but we’re not allowed to talk abou that.

It’s a secret.

3. It's not "torture"
because it doesn't leave a mark...

NEW YORK (AP) — U.S. soldiers in Iraq have a new weapon for dispersing hostile crowds and warding off potential enemy combatants. It blasts earsplitting noise in a directed beam.
The equipment, called a Long Range Acoustic Device, or LRAD, is a "nonlethal weapon" developed after the 2000 attack on the USS Cole off Yemen as a way to keep operators of small boats from approaching U.S. warships.
The devices have been used on some U.S. ships since last summer as part of a suite of protection measures.
Now the Army and Marines have added this auditory-barrage dispenser to their arms ensemble. Troops in Fallujah, a center of insurgency west of Baghdad, and other areas of central Iraq in particular often deal with crowds in which lethal foes intermingle with civilians.

4. If oil was not so costly I am sure it would be on the fort walls
Middle ages here we come. Little turning over the fire never hurt any one plus he will say anything. It is starting to look like we all need a bag over our heads so they can not guess we are Americans. Shame on us.

6. Oh shit, now I understand, the alternative to due process and rights
...is to wire a prisoner's testicles up to 250,000 volts along with smearing shit all over their bodies, tying their hands with plastic wire, inflicting 1st degree burns with cigars, allowing German Shepard dogs to bite and inject saliva into open wounds and cutting off the blood circulation until nerve damage results. I got it now!:sarcasm:

The part which the prisoners really start chattering is when standing totally naked in front of female soldiers who allowed to ridicule their manhood, fondle their penis and bush broom sticks up their ass. I'm bet that got results also.
